2018 US midterm elections

Apparently this has been the policy on Election Day for some years now. But they got a bunch of calls this morning, and reconsidered. The buses will run tomorrow.

But even aside from the fact that it’s Election Day, it sure was a shit-for-brains set of priorities. Here you have a day that isn’t even a Federal or state holiday, that’s a regular work day for almost everyone, and they shut down the bus system while keeping the golf course open. Srsly?!

It is a puzzlement.

Arizona has joined the list of states with more early votes in 2018 than total votes in 2014.

Whoever wins, that’s a great result for democracy.

Voting in the side actively trying to suppress democracy would not be “a great result for democracy”.

Nope. Republicans want to make it more difficult to cast a ballot and rig the voting system against people that vote for Democrats. That’s terrible for democracy.

There’s a good chance that Kemp will steal a governor’s race in Georgia. What do people do when it’s obvious that an election has been rigged to disqualify them from voting, especially along ethnic lines?

Whoever wins, it’s a great result for democracy!

The political prognosticators have indicated we have a slight majority in the House, but we might lose a few seats in the senate. I’m cautiously optimistic.

Here’s Chuck Lorre’s heartfelt, and funny, prayer for Election Day: http://www.chucklorre.com/index-bbt.php?p=598&fbclid=IwAR3EWEYg2JY_MCADQsHHkwqeez6S1krSOkRloRGclXFBvsvkIgm9mIVeyHU

And those attempts at suppression have been shown to have failed.

…which particular effort are you talking about? And what metric did you use to determine that the suppression attempt failed?

They really haven’t, though. You can have really high turnout and still see elections decided by suppression efforts. If Brian Kemp wins by a margin less than, say, 30 times the margin of the last Georgia governor’s race (because that’s how many voters he struck from the voter rolls which we know still live in Georgia), then the result is suspect.

We don’t know that, but even if it was true, voting in the side that was trying to do that would be worse for democracy than the side that wants to make it easy for everyone to vote.

Nobody asked for your opinion, Saruman!
