2021-22 NBA Regular Season Thread

Raptors played well against the good 76ers. Won against the hapless Rockets after being down almost 20 points in an ugly grind.

If they play the 76ers or Bucks they should do well. They have had some ugly games being 2-2 against Boston.

Nikola Jokic became the first player ever to record 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 500 assists in a season, as he led the Nuggets to clinch a top-6 spot in the Western Conference and avoid the play-in tournament.

The Philadelphia 76ers, a few days ago, listed Matisse Thybulle as “ineligible to play” against the Toronto Raptors in Canada, for reasons they declined to specify. I’m guessing he’s not vaccinated. All players must be vaccinated in order to play in Canada. With the Sixers and Raptors currently set to compete in the first round of the playoffs against one another, it’s looking likely that the Sixers will be without Thybulle, one of their best wing defenders according to the article, for the three road games of that series.

(And I must again complement the mods of this site for having both of Thybulle’s names listed as acceptable in the spell check. I’d never heard of this guy before, but I’ve never had any problem with any NBA player).

Luka Doncic got hit with his 16th technical foul of the season and will receive an automatic one-game suspension unless it’s rescinded. This would cause him to miss the Mavericks’ regular-season finale against the Spurs, which could be detrimental to Dallas’s hopes of achieving the #3 seed in the Western Conference. They’ll be either third or fourth.

It’s still possible it could be four road games for the Sixers; the Raptors hold the tiebreaker. The Sixers would have to lose their last two and have the Raptors win their closing game, though, and the Sixers are 12 up on New Orleans at halftime as I type.

Good. He’s a sneering, smirking asshole, IMO. They also beat the Blazers by 50 points, which is really unsportsmanlike, but there are no rules regarding such a thing in pro sports. Humiliation is seen as a plus, I guess.

They only scored 21 in the fourth quarter. The Blazers, however, only scored nine, effectively forgetting what direction the baskets were in. Blame Portland for that one, the Mavs weren’t exactly going full out.

As to Doncic, it takes some real doing to get 17 technicals in one season.
