2021-22 NBA Regular Season Thread

They’ve lost the last 8/9. Today’s loss against the Pacers was by 31 points, as the Blazers went back to the colander defense and couldn’t hit much of anything. Josh Hart must be hounding his agent to go anywhere else at this point.

When I realized it was going to be that kind of a year for us, I canceled my Team Pass for the Pacers, and have seen precious little of my basketball team.

How’d we look to you?

you know there’s a lesson to be learned in the lakers lebron era

Dont let the star players pick their teammates … and at his point, I don’t think he’d be missed if he leaves to go play with his kid…

Better than us.

Hey, everybody hits their prime.

Most of the guys on the Lakers just hit theirs 10 years ago.

So… who’s in my chair?

I’m not a Lakers fan, but if I were, I personally think I might miss a player who is averaging 34, 9 and 6 on .532 / .386 shooting so far this month.

until he gets injured next month and misses the rest of the season like every other year …

Of course Wilt Chamberlain did it HIMSELF. He would have needed a teammate to have a 50 point game to meet the conditions of the statement, though.

We won a game! I mean, yeah, it was against one of the worst teams in the NBA and we nearly blew it at the end, but still. . .WIN!

. . .and then a catastrophic at-home 37 point failure against the Spurs. Just. . .wow. No relief in sight from our injured list, either.

I think the Blazers are officially going for draft picks now. With only eight games left, I don’t think we’ll see any of the starters play again this season and risk an injury. Two losses to the worst team in the NBA (Rockets) has pretty much sealed it.

Tight overtime Toronto win over Boston, which has been hot but was missing both Tatum and Brown. The Celtics are a good team, even better when they seemingly commandeer the officials - chippy bilateral play but a 2:1 ratio of fouls against, and Siakam and Barnes fouled out. Eastern Conference is going to go down to the wire; expect lots of changes over the next two weeks.

Boston was a bit of a proving ground for Thaddeus Young. Best game I have seen him play - he won the game for Toronto.

Game versus Minnesota very even at the half.

2022 Hall of Fame inductees have been announced.

Ginobili is a first-ballot Hall of Famer. NBA head coach George Karl and college coach Bob Huggins, notably of West Virginia, also get in.

Introduced the “Euro-step” to the NBA, much to the dismay of many defenders.

The Raptors are playing well and should make it into the final six. FiveThirtyEight gives them between a one and nine percent chance of making the final depending on method.

They played really well against the Heat for a half, blew a ten point lead in quarter three and could not sink a three in the last five minutes. They still made it close. They do well against good teams and have a fighting chance.

In fact, the esteemed Dr Paprika Statistical Group gives them a shocking twenty percent chance of making it into the final, and a ten percent chance of winning the whole thing.

Aaand the Lakers are officially eliminated from the playoffs.

Don’t let your star players play GM. MJ sucked at it, too.

It tickles me pink that whenever the Lakers try to put together a super-team, they fall short of winning a championship.

Of course, the team starring Shaq, Kobe, Karl Malone and Gary Payton at least made it to the NBA Finals.

I do not understand the Lakers.

The Raptors are weird too. Last in the league in assists. Scrappy defence, no tall centres but three tall forwards each of whom is dangerous. A hard team to beat when Siakam is playing well. Their unorthodox play works well against top teams. Yet they often struggle with bad ones, and the first thirty games of the season were often painful to watch.

It’s always a good day when the Lakers lose.

Of course, now the Suns are experimenting/strategizing/getting the bench some game time, but the result is losses.
