There’s some polling by respected pollsters (Emerson, SurveyUSA) released recently. Things leaning, narrowly, in Warnock’s favor. I feel like there should be another few polls in the days running up to 12/6, but it’s possible that these are the last polls we’ll get.
Too narrowly, considering what a shit candidate Walker is. It is just far too easy to conjure a scenario where Walker pulls it out than it should be. I don’t expect him to, but…man. It’s a bit depressing how close this still is despite another OctoberNovember surprise basically dropping every other day.
Electoral-vote.com suggested in today’s blog that someone is coordinating the release of Walker-skeletons:
The polling is about what you’d expect given the results of the original election and how the third party candidate’s votes would be divided.
It’s all turnout and polling is just guesswork about that for this.
Need some R nuts talking up that the vote is going to be rigged anyway and especially don’t trust early voting or drop off boxes.
Walker, Texas Resident…
Some points I hadn’t thought of:
Last polling drop from 538. About a two point lead for Warnock.
Polls closed in Georgia about 45 minutes ago. So far most reporting is on numbers from the early votes. With 33% of votes counted Warnock is leading by ~47,000 votes out of 1.1 million counted so far - 56.2% Warnock to 43.8% for Walker.
Kornacki is getting kinetic!
This might be a nail biter.
I’ve seen enough. Steve Kornacki needs to chill.
51-49. Let’s get to work.
AP calls it:
CNN called it for Warnock.
I don’t understand how it was so close. We now have proof that Republicans will vote for a werewolf if he says he is Republican.
I feel like I can finally take a deep breath. Two years of being able to appoint judges and get cabinet members and ambassadors approved. Two years where McConnell doesn’t have the power to screw everything up. Finally, two years where Manchin or Sinemet can’t individually hold the Senate hostage and we don’t have to panic that a Democratic Senator in a red state will have a heart attack and flip the Senate.
I’ve been asking myself the same question since 2016.
When Fox News (!) called it relatively early for Warnock, I knew everything was gonna be okay.
A Republican werewolf in Georgia
The weird thing about Fox News is that they have one of the best election decision desks in media; apparently heretically isolated from the bias the rest of the outfit is notorious for.
I will be 90 years old, drooling in my chair, and all of a sudden I will come straight awake and yell “OH my God, Karl Rove is making Meghan Kelly walk down to the decision desk to argue with their own experts!”
