Still citing the tweets as a source but I’m guessing this is pretty official:
At least it seems likely that he is actually dead. ISTR a fairy recent incident where we heard that a well-known person had died, only to learn that the reports were greatly exaggerated, and then, a few days later, that person did make the purchase of agicultural property.
His manager is quoted in the CNN article. The slowness of the official word is probably due to the fact that he died at home in France far away from the usual sources of the Hollywood press.
I like it.
I have had both Jimmy and Rosalynn on my DP list for several years. I figured once one of them went, the other wouldn’t be far behind. But damn, they just keep hanging in there, year after year. (And good for them!) Those will be some of the saddest points I earn.
I have Jimmy Carter as my first alternate. He moved up when Pope Benedict died. It’s two points I don’t really want, but I’ll finally be on the board.
Two of us had her on our themed lists.
Not even sure this guy qualifies as a celebrity but apparently his death is notable enough to warrant a TMZ headline:
I would have bet money that she died a few years ago. I had to double check that wasn’t an old article you were posting.
She was by far the worst thing about Hill Street Blues but I’m pretty sure that was on purpose. Her character wasn’t supposed to be easy. From what I understand she wasn’t initially meant to be that important on the show but her role was greatly expanded. Then she left when she felt new writers were making the character go backwards.
And I’m sure the fact that she was married to creator/executive producer Steven Bochco was purely coincidental.
Something’s been bugging me - is Rosalynn Carter pronounced Rah-za-lin, or Ro-za-lin?
I thought it was the former, but all the news outlets say the latter.
Maybe newscasters these days are too young to remember how it was pronounced during the Carter years?
And in fact, here’s a 1977 interview with Morley Safer, an interview with Barbara Walters, and the Wikipedia article. They all pronounce her name Ro-za-lin.
Of course, I can also find plenty of sources that pronounce it Rah–za-lin. I’ll give the tie-breaker to Jimmy Carter, who calls her Roh-za-lin.
A lot of deaths lately but I don’t see any picks.
bodies falling all around, but none of them landing in the pool
Well, there you go. I’m wrong! It’s not the first time. Thanks for the research I was too lazy to do.
Local news has been running what are basically obituaries for Jimmy Carter for the past five days. Am I the only one who finds this kind of weird and creepy?
The reports aren’t disrespectful per se, but somehow I find this sort of death watch unnecessary. Give the family their privacy and go ahead and let us know when he dies.
His breath was literally taken away.
