Unless I hear from you I will use your three alternates to complete a total of thirteen selections.
Hear from who? Me?
There are supposed to be 13 on the list, with 3 backups. You only gave 10.
Oh, OK. I guess I misunderstood–I thought it was 10, with three backups. There are supposed to be 16 in all? Don’t bother answering–I’ll re-read the OP for instructions.
@Baker, just wanted to make sure you saw this.
I saw it, no problem.
Somebody doesn’t understand this game.
Mr. Richards has to croak eventually.
I think that I understand this game.
Actually, you don’t need to have backups. You can have them, or not. Basically they’re insurance against one or more of your 13 picks kicking the bucket before 2023 begins, but of course you can always update your list if you have time to do that before the new year. I usually just go with one, but YMMV.
I usually just hold my picks until the last minute and skip the alternates. It is still kind of risky, given the news cycle lag, but, oh well.
The other risk is one of your picks being disqualified.
Just remember: Every cigarette you smoke reduces your life expectancy by 11 minutes. And you give those 11 minutes to Keith Richards…
I play to keep people alive, so my list is well-vetted from years of recycling. I have only scored like three times in nine years, and when I decided to pull the king of Thailand off my list, he promptly bought it the following year.
Oh, just passing along some news for anyone still working on their 2023 list:
Also you aren’t limited to at most 3 alternates as some people imply. You can have more than that. It’s just that more than 3 is probably overkill since it’s unlikely that you’ll ever need even more than 2.
Articles like this have been known to kill people.
