2023 SDMB Celebrity Death Pool

I don’t think this has been posted.

Judy Farrell, who played Nurse Able on MASH,has died at 84.

My themed list is surviving MASH cast members, but she was only in it so briefly, I did not include her. Mike Farrell’s first wife.

I never liked MASH, so I had no perspective as to how much she appeared in the show.

8 episodes, and rarely more than a line or two in each.

Tech bigwig Bob Lee, 43, is stabbed to death in San Francisco.

Basically a background character like most of the nurses.

Yeah, only Nurse Kelly ever rose to any real prominence in the show and she did so simply by being on the show for almost its entire run. I mean, they eventually gave her lines since she had a name and personality that gradually had come out.

Nurse Able was, if I remember, just kind of hot and one of the generic nurses. She had a name, but no more or a role.

If IMDB is correct, there were actually four different actors who played Nurse Able (and three who played Nurse Baker) If there’s anything worse than being remembered for a bit part, it’s the possibility of being confused with other actors who played the same bit part.

The Southern California Timing Association announced the death of the man who broke the 600-mph barrier in the jet-powered ‘Spirit of America Sonic 1’ in 1965.

He was famous for the incident where he lost his chutes and crashed in spectacular fashion, climbing out of the wreckage to declare, “For my next act, I will set myself on fire.”

One of a very few who could tell someone to hold his beer, and then be alive to ask for it back afterwards.

And your bit part is named after a military phonetic alphabet at the time (Able, Baker, Charlie, etc.)

Anyway…

Breedlove dead at 86? What, no days, hours, minutes and seconds? Fucking sloppy, right there.

I think he may have broken the land speed record holder longevity record. Not that land speed record attempts have anything on water speed record attempts, when it comes to longevity.

Death….why’d it have to be death?

Jaws cinematographer Bill Butler sinks to the murky depths for -1 points.

Man, I wanna be Spielberg’s camera man.

Doug Slocombe lived until 103 and now Bill Butler lived to 101.

Janusz Kamiński is feeling great.

Whereas Tobe “may I move the camera 6 inches to the right Mr Spielberg” Hooper only managed 26 points, so be careful what you wish for.
