Well, he probably helped to save numerous lives and it was all over the news here, where Mr. Yuk was born.
I have never heard of Mr. Yuk. Ever. And I’m an Old Fart.
They used to use Jolly Roger to flag poisonous things, but then someone observed that children, whom you want to not touch the stuff, would see a smiling face rather than a death’s head, so he created something more visually icky.
This Mr. Yuk PSA traumatized plenty of us back in the 70s.
I don’t remember if there were any Mr. Yuk commercials in the 80s but I do remember the campaign was still going strong at that point.
My sisters and I got a hold of a bunch of those stickers and decided to plaster them all around our home. Particularly on leftovers we didn’t like.
