2024 NFL Pre-Draft Thread - The Chicago Bears are on the clock (for now)

100% media speculation based on absolutely nothing. Not saying he won’t be the pick, but anyone who’s said they know what the Commanders are going to do is talking directly out of their ass.

New York Jets trade Zach Wilson to Denver:

Jets trading QB Zach Wilson to Broncos, source says (msn.com)

Based on their original investment, the Jets got pennies on the dollar – they will receive a sixth-round selection (No. 203) in this week’s NFL draft from the Broncos, who in addition to Wilson will get a seventh-round pick (No. 256). The Jets and Broncos are splitting the $5.5 million Wilson is due this season with each team paying $2.75 million, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Seems like the Broncos got a deal here. Wilson is still young and has had some good games, and they get him for the difference between a six-round pick and a seven-round pick.

I started the 2024 NFL Draft thread.

He’s really not.

I get the complaint, but not really. EVERYONE has the Commies taking Daniels, and that’s even with the general opinion being that Maye and Daniels are at worst a coin flip talent-wise. If the media were just making shit up, you’d see some variation where different writers try to carve out a hot take for themselves. Either the Commies have done a masterful job of being consistent with their disinformation (if so, why) or everyone is hearing the same whispers and seeing the same smoke signals.

Other than the Bears every pick is media speculation. No team is dumb enough to actually tell someone what they are planning. So of course it’s literally true, but this isn’t baseless uninformed speculation. Washington isn’t a backwater. Josh Harris isn’t some media averse owner with no sports media history. Adam Peters, Dan Quinn and Kliff Kingsbury all have lots of time in the league in high-profile positions and longstanding media relationships. It’s unrealistic to believe that the press has coalesced around a single narrative by pure chance.
