Three now I think.

Lyricist Peter Sinfield no longer believes in Father Christmas – 20 pts gone to waste.

Andy Paley gone at 28 points.

Ah, man. This is, by far, my favorite Christmas song.

And this my favorite performance of it:

I wonder what will go onto his Epitaph?

Odd song for a church service.

Odd song for anywhere. I never heard this before so I looked up the lyrics. I don’t see what’s to like about it.

John “Two Jags” Prescott, Deputy PM under Tony Blair, has driven off to the Chiltern Hundreds in the sky.

He will forever be remembered for responding to a protestor who threw an egg at him by punching the protestor in the face and grappling with him in the street:

Thanks for sharing that performance. Beautiful tune.

Couldn’t distinguish too many of the words other than Peace on Earth so don’t know what was objectionable about the lyrics or why it wasn’t suitable for a church service.

Here are the lyrics.

It strikes me as a bit cynical. Compare Ticket to Heaven by Dire Straits: a lovely-sounding song with a dark message.

I always considered it more of an anti-Christmas song. Certainly not a religious song.

They sold me a dream of Christmas
They sold me a silent night
And they told me a fairy story
'Til I believed in the Israelite
And I believed in father Christmas
I looked to the sky with excited eyes
That I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn
And I saw him and through his disguise

And at the end:

Hallelujah, Noel be it heaven or hell
The Christmas we get we deserve

Yes it’s my favorite Christmas song.

Alice Brock of “Alice’s Restaurant” has died at age 83.

I shall celebrate by visiting the town dump on Thanksgiving day.

Then you need to find a cliff.

And so close to Thanksgiving.

Be sure to bring your shovels and rakes and implements of destruction.

Be sure and post your 27 8x10 color glossy photos with circles and arrows and a paragraph description on the back of each one.

They’re closed on Thanksgiving.

No really - I checked!
