The Toronto Raptors NBA team started playing in 1995. They chose their name primarily because of the popularity of the Jurassic Park movie.
I’m okay with the name, but I wonder what they would have chosen had that movie not been released when it was.
And now it’s probably time to end the hijack.
I rather preferred when they ‘FootballTeam’. Like, you know, FT Washington.

I remember sitting with Dad in the bleachers in the early '60’s and Dad would call him a hotdog because he would always swing for the fences to be some kind of big man.

I drove by a high school in San Antonio where the team name was the Buttons.
In Poca, West Virginia, the high school team is called the Dots.
I have shirts from Frankfurt Indiana, where the high school has a fierce dachshund as a mascot. The Fighting Hot Dogs.

Commanders won’t improve for the reason I already gave, unless the team becomes really dominant for a long time. And ‘Guardians’ when it doesn’t bring to mind the image of someone doing nothing but just standing next to a door, guarding it, it just reminds me of all those forms requiring the signature of your parent (or guardian). Lame.

I once had a list all of people who were at least 95. But as someone has said, by then they are very good at living, and I only got three points that year.
