The Bulls have fired executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley. The two of them joined the Bulls prior to the 2020-21 season; in six seasons leading the team, they’ve produced one winning season (which was also their one playoff appearance). Multiple attempts to rebuild the team during their tenure haven’t panned out, and Chicago traded away many of their key players at the trade deadline last month.
The team is saying that they are hoping to keep coach Billy Donovan (who also joined the team in 2020), but they are now 15 years removed from their last appearance in the conference finals, and 28 years removed from the last of the Jordan championships.
This creates the theoretical possibility that the Bulls might be good again at some point in the future, though unfortunately their replacements will be hired by the same clown who hired them, Jerry Reinsdorf.
Pistons went from worst team in the NBA two year ago to 1st seed in their conference.
It’s been amazing to see. Even without Cade Cunningham for awhile, they have been playing so great. If he comes back ready for playoffs, they have a chance to win it all.
I didn’t watch the Pistons/Magic game since the NCAA final (Go Blue!) was going on but I’m not too surprised. Detroit was already locked into the 1 seed in the East. Going into the playoffs healthy and try different lineups is much more critical than the win.
That was exciting. Second year in a row Miami went OT in an all-or-nothing play-in game. This time, they lost — though Charlotte’s Lámelo Ball almost gave it away by fouling Herro in 3-point territory.
Happy to see the Hornets advance at last, but I wish it didn’t benefit that wife-beater Miles Bridges.
Good luck tonight Detroit, you are either getting “easily top three in the East” Magic or “Doesn’t belong in the playoffs” Magic depending on our mood.
Well, can’t watch the game tonight because it’s on Peacock+. I’m not signing up for another streaming service just to watch a game. The NBA can kiss my ass.
Bulls head coach Billy Donovan has resigned, despite the team trying hard to keep him. They had fired their GM and EVP of basketball operations earlier this month, and traded away or cut most of their best players earlier this year, but had hoped to keep Donovan. However, Donovan is clearly still in demand, and will likely land in a team that’s not in the middle of a seemingly-eternal rebuild.
