For clarity for candidates of “final hours” (and next year’s opening kick-off), how do time zones work? 2026 is less than one hour away in New Zealand, if someone dies in a New Zealand in a few hours time what year would their death be classed as?

The game runs on Chicago time and officially ends/commences at midnight on New Year’s Eve. Waking up on New Year’s Day and posting my list around lunch time was a tradition for me for many years, thanks to living in the East Coast Australia timezone.
If a celebrity dies in NZ on 1 January and it hits the news before midnight NYE Chicago time, it would be counted as a 31 December death.
If the death was announced as 1 Jan but wasn’t published until after the new game year started, and there was no clear time of death announced, then Baker would probably have to make a ruling.
I haven’t been able to find any other examples of her art (restoration or original), but Wikipedia still lists her as an “amateur artist.” I did find an older article that was somewhat less harsh, but also notes that she wasn’t a professional.

For what it’s worth, I’ve never seen the “giant blocks of color to be filled in later” technique used in modern restoration videos available on YouTube.

Mine, too. First year I’ve had four deaths and first year I might finish in top 10.
Wrong on both accounts. Apparently in 2019 I finished 7th with 4 deaths as well. (Fatima Ali got me many points.)
My best year was the year I won on Fathom. I had several high-scoring picks I shared with other people: Farrah Fawcett, Ted Kennedy, and a couple of others, but I was the only one with all of them, plus I had a unique pick who died with about 40 points. Susan Atkins. Notoriety is celebrity.
Usually I don’t get on the board at all-- this might be my second best year-- 3 picks for 27 points.
I have a streak of listing people for several years, then replacing them-- not enough points anymore, or recovering from whatever, and, of course, they die. Happened with Larry Kramer, Jean Stapleton, Patty Andrews, and Maria Tallchief that I remember. I stubbornly persisted with the last 2 Dionnes, though. Finally got both in one year.
