Hmm. I’ve had 3 people die-- someone besides the Dionnes. Did I have Bardot? I remember going back and forth with her-- likeliness vs. not many points, but don’t remember what I finally did.
Is there a 2026 Death Pool up yet?

Since Dec 1.
Many Thanks! don’t why I couldn’t find it-- searched “2025 Death Pool,” and ever other death/life pool of any kind came up.
You had Bardot
Thanks.
Usually I don’t make it to the board at all-- this is the best I’ve ever done at the SDMB Death Pool.
There was a freaky year when I actually won over at Fathom, but I think maybe I used up my 15 minutes that year.
A true artist for the ages, Cecilia Giménez has died.
It is very sad that she is still mocked for what she did. Here is a better take on her story (in Spanish, from the Guardian’s sister newspaper in Spain, the Guardian could have been fairer to her, they had the better sources but chose to mantain the charade)
Long story short: Cecilia Giménez was restoring a badly damaged picture in a godforsaken church in Aragón, where the central government does not help and people are poor and mostly old, because the young do not stay. She had done several such restorations. She was not world class, but she was OK. She was half-way through this one, when she went on a holiday. A small local newspaper ran a story on that unfinished work, an “influencer” took it up, someone translated that into English, and it became viral. When she knew about it, it made her sick. Literally. She was ridiculed, mocked, but was not allowed to finish her work.
Then her work became a tourist attraction, and a source of money.
She had to fight to get her fair share. She got about 2,000 Euro per year for this merchandising:
And then she got Alzheimer and could no longer take care of her son, who is handicapped. At least they managed to live together in the center where both were taken care of these last years. I hope he does well now she is no longer there for him.
To translate the articles, if desired, I recommend deepl (dot) com. Much better than other services. I have barely scratched the surface of a complex situation.
She was just 2 days premature. How rude!
I don’t know who had her on this year’s list…but far too many had her on next year’s list.
No one had her for 2025. She only announced her illness in November.
Waiting for Trump to claim co-grandparentship.
mmm
Nah, she’s not his type.
That would have been some massive Opening Kickoff Award!
Can anybody scare up a restoration work by Cecilia Giménez besides Ecce Homo (aka, Monkey Jesus)? In regard to the second story that she’s an experienced restorer who happened to leave an unfinished work, and we lowbrows can’t tell a partial restoration from junk, well, I just wanted to see for myself, but I can’t find anything.
Isiah Whitlock Jr has passed at 71. I didn’t see many of his roles, but he was very funny in all of them.
Ben Nighthorse Campbell has died at 92.
Sheeeiitt
Apparently comic John Mulrooney died. I saw some other comics post about it and his Wikipedia page has been updated.
James Moylan, one of the greatest unsung heroes of our time!
