George Foreman is survived by his sons George, George, George, George and George, and his daughter Georgetta.
(And six other kids. And his wife.)
I mentioned to my friends that George Foreman died and the first response was, “Which one?”
Kitty Dukakis gone at 88.
Weird we now live after the deaths of Ali, Frazier, and Foreman.
Was George the last major boxer of that era?
I think I have heard of a Larry Holmes, who is holding on to 25 points. The names Ken Norton and Leon Spinks seem more familiar to me, but they are retired retired.
Holmes is one of the best boxers ever. It’s funny that I think of him as the generation of fighter after Ali since he’s only 7 years younger and only one year younger than Foreman. Holmes is the one who knocked out Ali and held the heavyweight title for years. I hear he’s having some health issues. I was supposed to go to an event he was supposed to be at but he cancelled.
My condolences, but also this might be the first time I’ve ever had two picks pass away in the same year.

Brian McKenna, former St. Louis sportscaster, died at the age of 61.
McKenna had battled cancer for more than a decade, but died from being struck by a car while crossing the street.
That was an aggressive cancer.
She was 43.
Not mentioned previously but an important behind-the-scenes historical figure.

Drank too much of that dirty water.
In addition to Larry Holmes, who was already mentioned, Duane Bobick (74), Joe Bugner (75), George Chuvalo (87), Eduardo Corletti (83), Rudi Lubbers (79), Randy Neumann (76), and Chuck Wepner (86) are living heavyweights who competed in the sixties and seventies.
I just watched a bit he did on Letterman via YouTube. I don’t think I lasted more than a minute.
That was the most unfunny comic bit I have ever viewed.
mmm
John Hemingway, the last of “The Few” (i.e. the aviators at the Battle of Britain of whom Churchill would remark “Never, in the field of human conflict, was so much owed by so many to so few.”), dead at 105.
