Oh man… ![]()
German record producer, not American rocker.
There is an exception: Eric Carr, who replaced Peter Criss in the early 1980s, died ca. 1990, from a rare form of cancer.
I never purchased a KISS album or attended a concert, but they were a big part of my teenage years anyway. RIP, Mr. Spaceman!
Never mind.
(Decided my post was a better fit in the Ace Frehley RIP thread)
mmm
That’s great. I only think of the big auto show when I think of Cobo.
If you were to ask me what I wanted to be when I was ten years old I would have told you, “I want to be Ace Frehley.” I was introduced to KISS by friends with older brothers. I asked for, and received, KISS ALIVE for Christmas 1975. I had a poster of Ace on my wall in form or another until I moved out of my parent’s house. One time a few friends and I decided out of the blue to due the whole make-up and outfits and go surprise my sister and her friends. I was Ace. I remember pulling socks over my mom’s cork bottom sandals and drawing big circles on them to match Ace’s boots. I can play the solo in Shock Me flawlessly (not really, but not horrible).
Ace was basically my first musical hero. I was always on his side after he left KISS. He was the heart and balls of that band; Paul and Gene just cashed the checks.
RIP.
I thought I had him on my list in the Celebrity Life Threat, but I was wrong. So I’ll mention him here as well:
I just read that actor Ed Williams died on October 2 at the age of 98. He played lab tech Ted Olsen in the Police Squad/Naked Gun series.
Korean author Baek Se-hee, who wrote I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki, had died at 35.
Was it suicide?
Per the article, it’s “unclear.”
It’s possible. She had persistent depression.
And now the rumor is going around that Rivers was killed by a bear while visiting a national park.
No official cause of death has been released.
There will be far fewer reported sightings of Don Jeffrey Meldrum from now on.
Former MLB player Jesus Montero has died at 35. He was a catcher for the Yankees and the Mariners.
No cause of death was announced.
Doug Martin, former all-pro running back, reaches the end zone for the last time. He was just 36 years old.
As a follow up, it’s been revealed that Montero was involved in a motorcycle accident on October 4, and had been in critical condition since then.
I hope it wasn’t a distracted driver, like it was with my dad.
I’m sure Gene’s foremost thoughts are how to make a buck out of this.
