That’s right, it was tied and if they could have held them off it would have gone to OT. What was aggravating was that Kansas had four or five fouls to give before sending St John’s to the free throw line - but to me it seemed like they were fouling too quickly. Another one or two seconds off the clock on each of those fouls and they could have run the clock down enough that St John’s wouldn’t have time to get a shot off. Just bad clock management that cost them the game, IMHO.
Absolutely correct.
Half of the Final Four is set - congrats to Illinois and Arizona. Today we will see who joins them. UConn or Duke? Michigan or Tennessee?
If Connecticut wins, the Final Four will be all state names. I wonder how often that has happened?
1993 - North Carolina, Michigan, Kansas, Kentucky
1997 - Arizona, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina
2002 - Kansas, Maryland, Indiana, Oklahoma
2014 - Connecticut, Kentucky, Florida, Wisconsin
According to my rough calculations, I will clinch our pool if UConn beats Duke today. I think Japhiel wins if the final is exactly Duke over Arizona, and Kimble wins if it’s exactly Arizona over Duke. I win with any other Final matchup. I’m very excited, this is the best I’ve ever done!
Watching the Michigan - Tennessee game, I could have sworn I heard the announcers say that Rick Barnes had the most NCAA tournament wins without a Final Four appearance. But Barnes took Texas to the Final Four in 2003. So, did I hear them wrong?
I just did a Google search on ‘most NCAA tournament wins without a Final Four appearance’, and the answer was Tennessee. So perhaps the school, rather than the coach?
BTW, the number of Tennessee NCAA wins is 34. They’ve been to the tournament 29 times, including this season, and they’ve reached the Elite Eight four times.
WHAT A COMEBACK!!! That was incredible!
@Thing.Fish it looks like the only way you can lose at this point is if Michigan goes all the way. You have all four Final Four teams in both of your brackets, Arizona winning in one and UConn in the other. If Michigan goes all the way then it looks like ThatBuckyGuy’s bracket wins.
Nobody had Illinois going all the way but in Thing Fish’s “Arizona wins” bracket they have Illinois over UConn, so if Illinois wins it all then I think that still gives Thing Fish the edge.
