I know this is the Pit, and I know we have had threads about it, and I know I shouldn’t read SDMB while I’m being paid to work, but it really annoys me that the OP in this thread has an F-bomb in screaming headline type. Makes me want to slap my monitor, or throw a plate, or take a bread board on a plane, or something.

That is true.
I know he does…he disturbs me somewhat, too…if for no other reason than I am sure that I fit squarely into a demographic that he hates to the point of blind rage. BUT, that’s just it…I really do think that these opinions/emotions from him are genuine, and in my book, that’s not trolling.

He won’t apologize, because the facts are irrelevant to him…the way I see it, he’s mad at something much larger than this guy, and is just lashing out at what he sees as symbolic of it.
Ya know, I have no problem with the Pit. I think it’s great the we have a place to vent and call out other posters and such.
But so much of it has become Performace Art. Which is fine in the serviece of a genuine complaint.
But then we get crap like this which is someone looking for something to complain about so that he can get his Outraged Laurie Anderson on.

I was an elected official of my local Labour Party at age 21. Friends of mine were local counsellors at that age or a year or so later. I guess it is not just the US where Democracy has collapsed and we are governed by children.

I don’t recall getting all worked up about anything he has posted or complaining about getting all worked up. Mildly annoyed that profanity in large letters appears on my screen when I open this thread, but that’s about it.

I quoted your post because it included the Burger King example, while calling him a troll. My comment wasn’t aimed at you specifically, but I do think it takes a little bit of getting worked up to call somebody a poor boy, unhinged, and dangerous. OK, I understand that. Thanks. My choice of words didn’t stem from any strong emotion about TLDR. Based on what he has posted, including some avowals that he means exactly what he says, I have reached a few conclusions about him, a few of which I expressed in the post you quoted. If he really has the strong reactions to mundane things that he claims he has, then he qualifies as unhinged, and if anyone is around when he is throwing plates, dangerous, at least as I understand those words. If he doesn’t actually do the things he says he does, then I consider what he does to be trolling, or as Trion put it, performance art. I’m not calling for his banning, I’m reading the thread for the same reason I read others: I enjoy reading what’s here.

Herein lies the biggest difference between my attitude and the general one. I definitely consider it to be a performance art, which, as far as I know, is not against the rules. Heck, if it was, I wouldn’t enjoy reading what’s on the board, either. Maybe** TLDR**'s online persona is unhinged, maybe he’s unhinged IRL (which I doubt), but it sure makes a damn funny read, from my perspective.
Again, sorry if it looked like I was calling you out specifically, my comments were aimed at those that call TLDR a troll, then, for example, say they’re going to go around scrutinizing every post they make to see if it’s reportable or not. Seems to me it’d be easier to use the ignore tool. I’m also not calling out Boyospecifically, he’s just one of many.

Yes, as I said upthread, performace art is fine in the service of a geniune complaint. I don’t believe this is a geniune complaint as much as it is someone looking for something to complain about for the purpose of performing. And I believe that kind of thing goes in MPSIMS.
I’ve always kinda wondered if VCO3 was some graduate student’s alter-ego for some sort of internet psychology or sociology experiment. It would make more sense to me that way.
