What the hell? The SB Early Picks thread has come down to multiple people with the same picks on many occasions. This about pure, unbridled competition. If it results in a tie due to the existing rules, so be it, but don’t debase the contest by trying to declare yourselves co-winners ahead of time.
Might as well play on and see how things work out. I’m not sure if my analysis for the final week is correct though. (I need a total of at least 49 points from both teams combined)

Damn straight! FWIW, I’d say make the next tiebreaker be "closest to predicted score of the winner. So in this case, a final score of 27-21 would be a tie under the current rules, but would make Pheoinix the winner with this proposed 7th tiebreaker.
That or tie their arms together and make them dance fight it out with knives, “Beat It” style.

And when you do the math on how far off they are:
Pheoinix: Chiefs 5; Eagles 16 (total of 21)
smithsb: Chiefs 2; Eagles 19 (total 21)
I’m not sure any tiebreaker in the list works.
It should go to pirvii, who picked the loser correctly and was closest to the final score.
I still thought Eagles would win us a Lombardi at 28-24. Much closer than what really happened!
But the second tiebreaker is picking both teams, which would eliminate @pirviii.
That’s a good point. I (probably mistakenly) assumed that total points would be the fifth tiebreaker. Total points scored was 62. @Pheoinix predicted 51 total points; @smithsb predicted 45 total points.
I thought the same thing, but then I noticed the tiebreaker called out “individual scores”, so I tried to figure out how to do that (I’m open to alternatives that actually break the tie).
Closest to total points probably ought to be one of the tiebreakers.
I would think that closer to the winning score would take precedence over closer to the losing score.
I also thought the 5th tiebreaker was closest to total points. Closest to actual points for both teams is always going to be the same if both players picked the same margin of victory
Only works if it’s Detroit and not Philly, but damn I was close.
We resolved this last year, I just forgot to update the wording of it to clarify. The 5th tiebreaker is team agnostic. It’s the closest to the winning and losing scores.
Pheonix was 13 off from the winning score plus 2 off from the losing score = 15
smithsb was 16 off from the winning score plus 1 off from the losing score = 17
Pheonix is this years winner!
