I’ve never considered myself a girly-girl, but I can only do the following:

  1. Protect your computer
  2. Retouch digital photos
  3. Navigate with a map and compass (just map)
  4. Use a torque wrench
  5. Perform CPR
  6. Maneuver a car out of a skid (successfully all but one time, anyway)
  7. Get a car unstuck (eventually)
  8. Back up data
  9. Paint a room
  10. Mix concrete

I guess I don’t have to worry about being considered “one of the guys.” :slight_smile:

But what’s with people not knowing how to use a torque wrench? I wasn’t even in my teens before my parents taught me to use them.

I’ve never been able to pull a car out of a skid once It hits 90 deg but I got tour bus unstuck once so I’m claiming 100%.

The list is nothing but a reference to the time honored tradition of being a jack-of-all-trades (or jill-of-all-trades).

Why isn’t “safely handle basic hand-tools” on that list?

Not being nasty but in a u.k. urban enviroment the chainsaw thing and the weapon thing aren’t practical for most people plus putting “Tiddles” to sleep with an M16 would be frowned on in my neighbourhood.

As to competency with weapons I have seen many amateurs who are convinced that they are expert weapon handlers when in fact they are borderline dangerous,it seems to be a bloke thing just as virtually all blokes think that they are great drivers and lovers.

I am very competent on 11 things out of the list ,all of them outdoorsy things which personally I wouldnt think very useful in every day life but am mostly crap for the domestic stuff that WOULD be useful in normal life.

I would include in the list ,giving a woman an orgasm, being able to hold your drink and being able to feign interest after two fucking hours of being dragged round womens clothing shops by the missus. :slight_smile:
