252. Jesus Fucking Christ.

I wish to go on record as saying that if I ever cross paths with this deplorable waste of skin, I will beat her within an inch of her life.

link is about a puppy mill where 252 dogs were seized amid horrible conditions. -

just in case some folks wonder what the fuck you’re talking about but really don’t want to read about puppy mills.

So now, on top of everything else, my thought-wave transmitter is broken, too.

Thanks, wring. I guess I was a little worked up when I posted that.

If you ever bought a dog in a Pet Store, this is the type of place they come from. They get handed over to “dealers”, who then sell them to petstores. So little Muffy, who is being sold for 400$ at the petstore, isn’t from a “Local Breeder”, as advertised. Chances are little Muffy is from a puppy mill.

There’s only one way to stop these creeps. Stop buying their “product.” Want a dog? Go to a shelter. Go to a responsible hobby breeder (there are creeps who call themselves breeders out there - registered and all - who are nothing BUT puppy mills) - one who puts a lot of time and effort into his/her breed of choice, and who cares for his/her animals.

Waste of skin indeed.

Elly and the dawgs
Valen & Zap (n’ Spanky, too)

I’m sorry Elenfair, but in my still somewhat-worked-up state, I have to ask if that was directed at me personally or if that was intended as general information for the uninformed?

That’s a lot of feces.

I’m certain she meant that as general information, and would even hold the puppy-miller down while you commenced with the beating, Knead.

:frowning: That’s as bad as the case I saw on Animal Planet’s series, “Animal Cops”. They seized over 300 cats from a house, and had to euthanize ALL of them, because they were way to feral, and too sick. It was more merciful in the end to halt their misery by ending their lives. There were many living in the basement of the place, which had broken sewage pipes, and raw sewage on the floor. Many had been born in that house  :frowning:

Did I misread between the lines? Was the woman living in that filth too? Could she be demented? Maybe hospitalizing her, and medicating her would be more productive. Lock her up in a mental hospital so she can never do that again.

Amen.
You’d think by now that this would be common knowledge, but it isn’t. Please spread the word.

Who pays for a dog or cat when you can get one for free* and do a good deed at the same time?

The only hard thing, is only walking out with one pet. . . :frowning:

  • Not really free, you have to pay a minor adoption fee, pre-pay for fixing ect. Then various Vet bills, as the cat gets much better health care then I do.

yr welcome

My baby bro attempted to do the ethical thing when he wanted to get a kitten for his family. Went to the local shelter, filled out forms while the girls (4 and 8) looked at kittens, then was called in to talk to the staff.

“We note that your wife isn’t with you, we feel it’s family decision”

yea, she had something else she needed to do tonight.

“We also see that your pet adoption history isn’t very good either.” (They’d had cats run away from them before and bad experiences with hamsters, gerbils and ferrets)

well, they were rejected as potential adopters for kittens from the shelter.

(“let me get this straight - you’d rather euthanize the kitten then let it go home with me?” “yes”)

so they ended up at the pet store.

I’m with you. Want a dog? Adopt a greyhound. We’ve had three.

Puppy mills? Does this mean I can get puppy flour, milled locally? Goody, I have a recipe for puppy biscuits I want to try.

wring, my friend had the same issue when she tried to get a cat. Although she did end up with one (and found it was pregnant) I thought the 30 minute questioning (and the call home etc) was a bit much.

I figure it’s not that hard to simply lie about your history. I have a cat right now but he’s not officially “licensed” so I probably won’t mention him if I adopt another animal.

My border Collie is from the pound (Lately I feel he’s a mix breed, part Border Collie, part cheese) when we were filling out the forms, a woman was trying to get a beagle. The staff was asking for proof of spaying/nuetering for her last adoption, considering she was attempting to get a dog of the opposite sex. The lady blew up, saying it was none of their business if she wanted to breed them, blah blah blah. They told her no, and 40 minutes later we finally finished our paperwork and were headed home with our new pooch, when we see said psycho pull up with some guy. He goes in, she stays in the car. I went in to give the staff a heads up, just as said guy is walking up to them with the beagle.

Fast forward 4 years. The couple I see getting arrested for running a puppy mill on the news looks strangely familiar. I make no connection until the lovely wife points out the picture in the paper the next day. Yep. Same lady.

As it turns out, she did end up getting a breeding beagle, at least that is what I think those immatiated creatures were.

Follow-up from today’s paper.

Frankly, I could care less if this woman has been sick. I get sick and let things slide around the house, too. But you know something? I’m not operating a goddamn puppy mill.

You want some sympathy, lady? Get your sorry ass out of the dog-abuse business and maybe I’ll scrape some up for you.

Just as a response to those who’ve had trouble adopting; When I worked at a veterinary clinic, we once had this guy come in with a rabbit he’d gotten from a shelter. Wanted a complete exam. He said he’d come back later for the appropriate shots. A month goes by, and he comes back with another rabbit. Again, same story, got it from the shelter, wants an exam, will come back later for the shots. Third month he does this, he lets slip that this one ‘looks like it’ll cook up real good.’ It was all the doc could do to stop me from jumping the guy. Anyway, we called the shelter and told them in no uncertain terms no more animals for this sicko. The shelters aren’t trying to be mean, they’re just trying to be -sure- the animals are getting responsible owners.

Re: Adoption troubles.

Keep in mind there is a big difference between a rescue group and the county animal control. At least around here, I see people coming into the county animal controls and adoping dogs when I sure as hell would tell them they can’t have one. The county does not turn anyone away, it’t typically the rescue groups that will put you through the wringer to make sure it is a good fit. And, as long as they are no-kill, I completely support their efforts. They are usually getting the best available (most adoptable) pets from county animal controls and from other venues. They should go to a good home.

Cut them some slack.

Need to add that I agree that turning people away when the animals will be euthanized is just fucking asinine.

Back to the OP- holy flurking schmidt!

The animals cannot be permanently placed because they are considered evidence?!? Ugh!

And this woman had a record of animal cruelty! I would love to know how the hell her first conviction got overturned on appeal (sorry if this info is in the second link- I ain’t lookin’ no more).

To quote the title of another Pit thread about animal cruelty- 5 minutes and a baseball bat…
