27 dead, 18 children

Jesus Christ, you’re willing to tolerate the deaths of innocent children just so you can indulge yourself in some fantasy about being Dirty Harry. Asswipe.

In quite a lot of cases the shooter doesn’t kill themselves. And the reasoning is always the same; they’re utterly fucking insane. Think of the Norwegian guy, rf the guy who shot those people along with the congresswoman in Arizona, or the mass murderer who killed 35 people in Australia. Looney as toons.

You’ve got a point. I can’t imagine anyone with any sort of sanity doing something like this. I have to wonder if this has anything to do with the shooting here in Portland. I know that sometimes people will see these things on the news and think ‘hell, I could do better than that’.

Well, yes. If you have a Ted Nugent loving school superintendent, the State will not interfere with them allowing guns in schools. Why would they remove that barrier? In any case, it should be an awkward bill signing ceremony today.

In addition to addressing the gun problem, I do think the media is an issue. The problem is everyone wants to know what happened, who did it, and any clue as to fucking WHY, but these subhumans plan this stuff in part to get notoriety. I feel like all journalists should make a pact to only report a shooter’s name if they also tell everyone he was found to have a micropenis.

“The Norwegian guy” seemed relatively sane, at least in the clinical sense. The guy that shot the congresswoman and the Batman killer, on the other hand, both seemed to be delusional. In the former case I think his trial kept getting delayed until they medicated him enough to understand what was going on.

So insanity seems common in mass shootings, but I don’t think its true in every case.

Yeah, I agree that the media does have an influence on these things. People today want to know everything that’s happening, the second it’s happening. They want to know every little bit of information about how, where, who and why. In the end, these shooters become infamous and make a mark on history and ensure they’re remembered. It’s tough because, people do want to know but it also do seem to instigate things to a degree.

I really hope this is sarcasm.

It seems like the gunman went for the kindergarten class…words fail me

Clearly we need to get serious about control of the news media and video games and movies. And nothing else.

My child’s preschool has a sign banning guns on the premises.

That they are required by law to so is fucking pathetic.

Better them than us!

18 kids? That’s it?

Children are murdered every day in “doctors” offices and nobody here goes on a rant.

Why do some of you think some magic law is going to stop something like this?
The Brady Bill didn’t do it. the “assault weap:rolleyes:ns” ban didn’t do it.
Hell, the guy in Oregon stole his weapon.

And why are you ranting about inanimate objects instead of the nutjobs who do this? A majority of times someone eventually comes out and says how the guy was talking goofy shit and such. Yet you’re more concerned about NRA members who legally buy their weapons, learn how to use them, follow regulations and such?

SCOTUS has ruled on handguns, so,sorry to have to tell you, all guns are not going away anytime soon. A guy could take several 5 shot revolvers and commit the same kind of carnage. But the anti-rights crowd don’t understand that because they don’t understand anything about any guns or how they work. they also don’t understand that guns are not going to go away!

27 people out of 300+ million is insignificant. Hate to have to be the bearer of a horrible truth.

This could be asked after every post you make, but what the fuck are you talking about?

Golly. I can’t wait to find out how many people died in pools last year.

Sure, but that’s because you’re a piece of shit human being.

Abortion. This kind of talk comes out after every school shooting/murder.

I made almost this exact quote on a friend’s Facebook entry.

Nope.

Giving a choice between a) keeping my guns and living with the current crime rate, and b) giving up my guns and a guarantee there will never be another murder in this country using a firearm, I would choose the former.

I’ve never heard this kind of talk before, but I guess I don’t know enough insensitive assholes who insist on dominating the conversation with their own concerns regardless of their irrelevance to the day’s events.

IOW, you are OK with thousands of random individuals dying for your freedoms.

Hopefully it won’t surprise you to find that I don’t want my kid to wind up dying in such a manner because your freedoms mean more to you than his life.

Or anyone else’s kid, for that matter. Or anyone else’s wife, husband, father, mother, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, friend, acquaintance…why on earth do you feel that your right to carry firearms is so important that it’s preferable that thousands of people die each year as the result of the preservation of that right, than to let them live?
