WTF? Some pics come out of Iraq of naked guys and everyone is so outraged they want Bush and Rumsfeld burned at the stake within 20 minutes. Then Berg is tortured and killed and everyone blames Bush and Rumsfeld for that.
Then some monkeys in Oregon play the audio of Berg being killed *WHILE LAUGHING ABOUT IT *, get fired that day (Thursday), but no outraged Dopers.
Man, I’ve been making an honest effort to control my temper in threads I’d love to fly off with as in the recent past, but this just disgusts me.
Well, there are a lot of really, really bad entertainers in morning radio. At least now there are two fewer of them. I wonder if the station is just, like, playing music until they hire another ‘wacky’ DJ team.
Anyway, sorry if we of the SDMB Daily Events Commentary Committee (Pit Division) dropped the ball on this one. We’re sufffering a bit from outrage fatigue at the moment. We promise to do better when the regular domestic affairs guy gets back from vacation.
Where were you, tough guy? Took you this long to find the “Start a New Thread” button? Or is it possible that a reasonable human being could be bothered by something, yet not start a thread about it immediately?
Jimmy and spooje, I heard this on CBS Radio News Friday afternoon. I apologize for assuming some Dopers that get so worked up over things would have missed this. The reason I didn’t post a thread right away was that in the past I have flown off the handle about things and have been (rightly) smacked down.
I had thought someone else with a better, more concise style would have noticed this story and commented on it, whereby I could simply pop in and add my own 5 cents. Alas, that wasn’t to be, Bush couldn’t be hit for this one. Were that the case, you would have heard of this after about 5 minutes of the firing, I’m sure.
Well, let’s use it as an experiment in how outraged Dopers can be at outrageous stuff. For now, I’ll hope that others will realize that if they hadn’t heard about this yet, maybe not every one of my posts is ill-informed.
I may be way off-base on this, but I can’t see any defense of these 3. (The producer Nikkey J, or something like that, was fired as well).

Perhaps some feel that it’s only fair to hold The Leaders Of The Free World to somewhat higher standards than a couple of now-unemployed shock-jocks in East Buttfuck, Oregon ?
Furthermore, I don’t think many people here have blamed Bush and Rumsfeld, especially not directly. (Of course, the dead man’s father is an exception.) Most of us probably blame the guys in the hoods with the knife. :rolleyes:
Thanks for the link, I missed it somehow. I wasn’t saying “Bushco” was being directly blamed for this incident, though it has been happening. I was just dismayed over the fact that since it couldn’t be blamed on the Republicans, there wasn’t an immediate pitting of the 3 radio guys.
Look, I know I’ll never win here, just thought it was deserving of a pitting.

If you want to pit these scumsuckers, feel free. They have earned it. From the description, it appears they go well beyond gallows humor and straight on into Moronville. Their firing was just.
Therein lies the problem. I didn’t start the thread right, and included a thought on on the lack of an immediate thread on this. That’s why my pits usually suck. I’m still learning here.

Those guys were total fuckheads. As soon as I heard about it I was all ready to demand that they get fired. But then I heard that they were immediately fired. So what’s the problem?

I don’t disagree that the incident was outrageous and I think they should be punished more than just losing their jobs, but Portland isn’t exactly East Buttfuck.
