3 lbs. premiere 11/14

I may need to tape this show, but it looks interesting. Brain surgeons abound.
Beyond that, I don’t know anything about it.

I’m going to watch because TV is a wasteland again this year and I’m hoping Stanley Tucci can liven things up.

Brain and brain, what is brain?"

After five minutes I was cringing, as it looked like a ripoff of House, and I thought that would be pathetic. It really turned around though - I was pleasantly surprised at how good the writing was. Love Stanley Tucci and was happy to see the gal from Rome. It’s getting a season pass for sure.

And what an unfortunate quirk of scheduling that it’s on the hour after House. I bet a lot of people were, like me, switching the channel from FOX and feeling a certain disappointment that this show was using pretty much the same graphics.

The commercial interruptions were so frequent and so extensive that I turned it off. I’ve never seen a show with so many commercials. Is CBS having problems paying the bills?

I was keeping an eye out for it but automtically switched to SUV after House. Stanley Tucci is brilliant though so maybe it will last long enough to provide reruns for later after SUV is over.

IIRC, the number and length of commercials during prime time is regulated by the FCC.

I enjoyed the show, so I’m willing to give it another watch or two to see if it holds. For a guy who claims not to watch much TV, I sure am watching a lot of TV these days. :dubious:

Re: commercials - this is one of the myriad reasons to get TiVo. Even if I want to watch a show “live,” I wait about twelve minutes after the start time so I can fast forward all the commercials, and finish watching the show at it’s normal end time. So I don’t have any feel for how many or how long the commercials are in anything anymore.

Can someone tell me what that piece the “quartet” was playing was? I know I’ve heard it in a commercial or something, and it’s very pretty. Actually, I liked the music throughout the show (I do have a soft spot for “Rock On.”)

I think it bears saying again - they so need to lose the “ripped off from House, which ripped it off from CSI” graphics. They are distracting and add nothing, and in the case of this show just make it look desperate and unoriginal.

Is that the NYPD’s large passenger vehicle crimes unit?

I thought this show did pretty well for a first episode. They need a larger ensemble than we’ve seen so far. They need to keep developing complexity in the characters, while steering clear of the shoals of being seen as a just a House clone. Scheduling it right after House is a mistake, though I’ll probably continue to watch both anyway.

I’m with zagloba on the criticisms, but I will keep watching.

That is “Perpetuum Mobile,” by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. It has been used in several commercials.

Isn’t that every year though?
