At first glance, this one looks very similar to number 4: a song that makes you sad, but consider that you don’t necessarily have to listen to a sad song when you’re sad. This could just as well be “a song to cheer yourself up”.
London Homesick Blues by Gary P. Nunn and The Lost Gonzo Band. It was the Austin City Limits’ theme song for ages, which I have fond memories of watching with my Dad. It’s bittersweet. I could have also used it for challenge #8, a song you know all the words to.
I’m having a heck of a time thinking of one because when I’m sad music makes it worse. However, classical music reminds me of my mom so it’s soothing to me. She particularly likes opera and this particular piece. Don’t click if you hate opera.
I have to be careful whenever listening to this one…it brings me to tears even when I’m not sad. And it’s not just that guitar*, but also that background synth/electric piano…wow, just wow.
When my husband passed away, this is what I’d listen to. It still gets me through the roughest parts, the nights being forever without him here. Thank you, England Dan and John Ford Coley.
A band I’ve never exactly embraced - :dubious:Chicago:dubious: - put out “Feeling Stronger Every Day” in '73 and even as a kid I’d always (and still do) get my spirits picked up from the rocking part with all the brass and roundhouse descending piano runs. Even the vox I don’t mind.
But here’s something that REALLY lifts my mood. It’s the first appearance of Susan Boyle on “Britain’s Got Talent.” Seeing the audience’s reaction when she starts singing is so uplifting.
