Sad, depressing songs

I’m in one of those moods where I need to listen to a bunch of songs, cry really badly, and get over it.

What are your suggestions for really sad, emotional songs that will probably make me cry?

Preferably about losing a loved one (either in death or love).

Everybody Hurts - R.E.M
Seasons In The Sun - Terry Jacks

Coutdown to move to Cafe’ Society

Didn’t we just do this thread?

My father’s chair - Rick Springfield.

This Ruined Puzzle - Dashboard Confessional
My Immortal - Evanescence
Globes and Maps - Something Corporate
Meet Me Halfway There - Student Rick

all have powerful, triste lyrics and have been known to make me cry when I am the least bit down.

Care to guess who has had a bad breakup? Remeber, these are best is small doses. More than a day or so and you could overmedicate on them. Good luck

Hurt–Nine Inch Nails
The entire Disintegration album by The Cure
Portishead. Any Portishead. Though don’t listen to too much at once.
Brick–Ben Folds Five
Narcolepsy–Ben Folds Five
Smoke–Ben Folds Five
Black No. 1–Type O Negative
Disarm–Smashing Pumpkins

Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
Everybody Hurts - R.E.M.
Hold On - Sarah McLachlan

And just to throw an odd one,

Hard Candy Christmas as sung by either Dolly Parton or the entire ensemble cast of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

It really truly seriously does make me cry. And as painful as it sounds to some of you, I Will Always Love You, but only when done by Dolly. Whitney can kiss my arse.

Hm, and as far as death songs are concerned, how about He Stopped Loving Her Today by George Jones?

Desperado-The Eagles

Ring of Fire-Any of the artists that have sang this one will get to me. Not really a sad, depressing song, but it reminds me of some sad, depressing events.

Mountains win again - Blues Traveler
Poems, Prayers, and Promises - John Denver
Goodnight, my angel - Billy Joel

Whoo! Another Something Corporate fan. I’ll add “Walking By” to the list, by the same band.
Also… this thread goes in Cafe Society, ne?

Black - Pearl Jam
Yellow Ledbetter - Pearl Jam (don’t remember what it’s about, but the music does the trick)

The Day the World Went Away - NIN

In The End - Linkin Park
4 U - Korn
Alter Mann - Rammstein
Losing my Religion - REM
Sound of Silence - Simon & Garfunkel
Amnesia - Skinny Puppy
Clown - Switchblade Symphony

And off we go to Cafe Society.

cant believe no-one has mentioned Leonard Cohen.

Bright Eyes (or whatever it’s called) used to make me cry when it played on Watership down,
I was about 8 at the time (although thinking about it still causes me to well up)

Just watching lassie (even when nothing sad was happening) made me cry too.

wahhhhhh!!!
