30 Day Song Challenge, number 3: A Song That Always Makes You Happy.

THANKS! I’m sharing some of the links with my buddy. A few years before Glen passed, we lost James King as well. Not the best singer, not the best harp player, but he sure was a lot of fun. I miss 'Chismo Charles too. Man could work a room. Glad to hear Jill West pulled through.

Someone’s gotta put a word in to Sasha about recording more Shari. Maybe I’ll send him a PM and see what’s what.

If I make it back into town and my health holds, we’ll see about meeting up for some bar food and music. Some of my very favorite memories involve those things.

I actually prefer this version one the Stones. Just has an extra oomph of happiness to it

Shut Up and Dance!

The first time I ever heard the song, it was in the movie compilation I linked above…and I LOVED IT!!

A Simple Desultory Philippic (or How I was Robert MacNamara’d into Submission). Partially for the ludicrous name, but it’s just fun.

(Listening as a kid, I had no idea what “that’s the hand I use … well, nevermind” was all about. Then at some point in adulthood, I listened to this song and went “… Ohhhhhh …”)

30 day song challenge has been extended to six and a half months.

It’s just so happy.

Nobody loves the BeeGees? My cheer-me-up music is Stayin’ Alive. However, there’s a lot of good stuff in this thread.

Nope.

I could have sworn I posted this in this thread already. I must have subconsciously deleted it out of abject shame. But what the hell, I’ll go ahead and post it again.
“Perfect Day” by Hoku.

Fuck you. I can like it. Sure it’s teenie-pop, but it’s got a great hook and I dig the groove of the bridge/solo. Turns out that’s Don Ho’s daughter. I have no idea how old she is so I shan’t render an opinion on how friggin’ gorgeous she is while we’re talking about it.

Look, it’s a happy little tune that plays over the credits of a goofy little comedy. Yes, Legally Blonde, but still, guys watch movies like that, you know.

I am too secure with my sexuality!
Anyway, that song always makes me happy.

At this rate, it could go on for years.

since I’m bored here is my silly happy song

I think **Idle Thoughts **has realized he doesn’t have 100 bucks.

I don’t want the money I just want to do challenges. He can keep his dollar if that helps.

Sigh.

I have a shit-ton of work to do right now – ahem, taxes – and this will be, without a doubt, my favorite “challenge,” but one I’m going to have to ignore. (I’ll write about all of this some time.)

Anyhow, picking 1 of the 900 songs in my feel-good playlist (that places them in order of their feely-goodness)… I’m actually going with one that is honorably disqualified from my list because of lack of exposure. it’s by a woman who plays in the bar where I work (and therefore not mainstream).

I bring you Dynamo.

Piling on now.

This video always makes me happy – brings me to tears, even. It’s that special.

Hope you’ve stumbled across a live version on YouTube (or at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show). Really soars.

I’d like to be

In an octopus’s garden
In the shade

Last post, I promise. (Full disclosure: I tend to break promises.)

If there is a such thing as an underrated happy song, this is it.

The one that works best in Bar Mitzvah video montages: Light & Day by Polyphonic Spree (alternate version).

One song that always, without fail, makes me smile happily is Kaze ni Naru. It’s the closing song to the Ghibli film “The Cat Returns.”

I haven’t a clue what the words mean, but it’s a peaceful, happy sound.
