THANKS! I’m sharing some of the links with my buddy. A few years before Glen passed, we lost James King as well. Not the best singer, not the best harp player, but he sure was a lot of fun. I miss 'Chismo Charles too. Man could work a room. Glad to hear Jill West pulled through.
Someone’s gotta put a word in to Sasha about recording more Shari. Maybe I’ll send him a PM and see what’s what.
If I make it back into town and my health holds, we’ll see about meeting up for some bar food and music. Some of my very favorite memories involve those things.
(Listening as a kid, I had no idea what “that’s the hand I use … well, nevermind” was all about. Then at some point in adulthood, I listened to this song and went “… Ohhhhhh …”)
I could have sworn I posted this in this thread already. I must have subconsciously deleted it out of abject shame. But what the hell, I’ll go ahead and post it again. “Perfect Day” by Hoku.
Fuck you. I can like it. Sure it’s teenie-pop, but it’s got a great hook and I dig the groove of the bridge/solo. Turns out that’s Don Ho’s daughter. I have no idea how old she is so I shan’t render an opinion on how friggin’ gorgeous she is while we’re talking about it.
Look, it’s a happy little tune that plays over the credits of a goofy little comedy. Yes, Legally Blonde, but still, guys watch movies like that, you know.
I am too secure with my sexuality!
Anyway, that song always makes me happy.
I have a shit-ton of work to do right now – ahem, taxes – and this will be, without a doubt, my favorite “challenge,” but one I’m going to have to ignore. (I’ll write about all of this some time.)
Anyhow, picking 1 of the 900 songs in my feel-good playlist (that places them in order of their feely-goodness)… I’m actually going with one that is honorably disqualified from my list because of lack of exposure. it’s by a woman who plays in the bar where I work (and therefore not mainstream).
