According to the OP, not only would the transportation and drinks be free, you could choose to do/go anywhere within the city and it will be all paid for. For you and a guest, for a week.
If I misunderstood the OP I might have to change my previous answer.
This. The best thing about Detroit is that it is so close to the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn. But, even if Dearborn were ruled out, I’d find plenty to do in Detroit.
I live in Omaha, mate, and it’s a nice town. That said, you would indeed take the $300 unless you’re really into zoos, planes, college baseball, or something specific you’d want to see here.
You mean Comerica Park. Tiger Stadium is nowHarwell Field.
Yes, the beautiful old stadium is town down and the lot is empty. Now volunteers (illegally) keep it up, draw out the chalk lines, and play softball there on the weekends. I took **gonzomax **down there once and we got a fist-sized section of wall. That’s kinda cool, I guess.
I’ll take the week in the city with the caveat that I get to choose the time of year. I’m thinking sometime in late spring/early summer when the Tigers are in town. Catch a few games, see what else strikes my fancy in the city in the way of restaurants & music, stay in a nice hotel, etc. It’s not a week in Tahiti, but not a bad week in my book.
You’ll hit yourself because you already know this: Dearborn is outside of the city limits, because it’s the city of Dearborn, not the city of Detroit.
Michigan is a shall-issue state. Wayne County (which contains Detroit) is sometimes slow to issue, but your legal CCW is still legal there, too.
Of course if you’re there as a tourist, you’re not going to go into the crack ghetto anyway, and you’d very likely be safe without the weapon. Partially that’s because Michigan is a shall-issue state, and partially because the touristy areas just aren’t all that dangerous.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in the Detroit AREA, but if I’m confined to the city limits, no way is it worth (to me) passing up $300 cash for.
