I have some old programs on my computer that just don’t want to be uninstalled. Can anyone give me a recommendation on 3rd party software to force the uninstall or perhaps another simple way to get rid of them?
(I’m running Win XP, SP1)

It might be easier to list the SW you’re trying to get rid of, and can’t. I’ll bet if you list it, someone around here has battled that demon and vanquished.
It’s on my home PC, so it’s difficult to recall the exact programs. I know MS Picture It! is one. A lot of it is shareware or really obscure software I’ve tried for various stints over time.
Since posting, I have started playing around with Aladdin’s Spring Cleaning 3.0 -so far so good but I’ll know for sure when I can try it on my home PC.
New Year’s Eve and Day, I spent several hours battling a Trojan Horse that I caught when I should have known better. Ad-Aware and Norton AntiVirus both detected it, and both tried to eradicate, but the little bastard was one of those re-infectors, so it came back.
I ended up booting off the original WinXP OS distribution disks, deleting the files involved, and manually editing the registry to delete the refernces there before it was gone for good.
Usually, if you can’t get rid of something, you have to edit the registry.
Here’s a list of “uninstalling” programs. I can’t, however, recommend any of 'em.
Because you haven’t used any, or because they suck?
Oops, sorry for the ambiguity there. I haven’t used any of 'em.
