4 Holidays in 7 Days Makes One Weak - A Celebratory MMP

Want. Don’t have the makings. :frowning:

Although we’ll have some Woodinville bourbon soon.

That looks like an acceptable substitute.

I put the ribs (bonz’n’meat) back in the oven to cook low-and-slow. Eventually (Tomorrow? Monday?) they’ll get BBQ sauce.

The hummingbird feeder is freezing at the top. As long as the bowl doesn’t freeze, the H-birds should be able to eat. The snow is still coming down. The ice-melt on the front walk is working.

So, friend gets to spend the night in the hospital. He’s got a minor concussion and a resting heart rate of 140/minute. He complains that the doctors keep looking at his heart because it’s his breathing that bothers him, then wants a ride to the store for cigs.

Hubs got home around two, deemed my cooking and prep to be satisfactory and took over as is right and proper. (He’s the meal cook, I’m the cleaner.) My timing was very good, I emptied the first load out of the dishwasher ten minutes before we sat down to eat.

The chicken came out of the smoker black so we thought that meant it had absorbed a lot of smoke. It was very good but only a little pink and not smoky at all.

A neighbor makes and sells amazing pies to support her critter rescue efforts and I ordered a coconut cream with graham cracker crust. Despite sitting in the fridge overnight, it wasn’t really that set and splodged when I tried to plate it. That’s what bowls and spoons are for, it was soooo good.

George is snoozing and looking so cute and innocent that it’s hard to believe that he’s such a PITA. At least he’s graceful and doesn’t deliberately knock things off wherever he is that he shouldn’t be.

He’s going to grow up. He’s going to calm down. He’s NOT going to wait until he’s 12 to do it either, he won’t live long enough!

It’s good.

Tomorrow I’ll have to bring some more wood in from the little shed I built in Summer. But it’s far.

Christmas dinner tonight was at Brera Osteria at the Venetian in Vegas. I’m stuffed. They double poured the grappa for dessert,so I’m lost in the ozone. Merry Christmas!

Once again, my sister gave us ornaments… despite me telling her repeatedly that we don’t do a tree and we don’t decorate. And these have our names on them, so I can’t even regift or donate them. This is the sister I gave all my decorations to some years back. She doesn’t listen. So I feel like an evil person when I toss them.

Ho ho no.

I actually enjoyed the shindig at the neighbor’s house. I regretted accepting the invite but once there and a glass of wine was ingested it was nice. The food was very good. The prime rib was a bit over cooked but I like it done. There were gifts. Yikes!
I didn’t know there were gifts but I did take the hostess a rather expensive bottle of Gin which I know nothing about and a bottle of Champagne. I got some Chinese hair sticks, a set of hair brushes and three boxes and bags of candy. The husband said he really likes my hair which was weird.

There was homemade Key Lime Pie and I had a tiny sliver. I was the first to leave and promptly took a long nap. I spoke to my sister at length and am about to watch some more of a so far good British series I found on Netflix.

Booo going back and reading I saw that Christmas Eve is a hard day for you. My anniversary is/was New Years Eve so once that’s over here’s hoping for a better year. The last two years have been strange indeed.

Safe travels everyone.

bleh, this year won’t go down as a Xmas to remember that’s for sure …tomorrow is our sad day as it’s the day my nephew passed on and since the past few weeks have been on the drislavia side of life it’s gonna be a trial …

I hope next year is better …

oh,also its been raining for a week… i think nature is trying to end the drought before the year’s end …hopefully there’s kwss nagging this summer …

This is going to be another long day. I didn’t fall asleep till after midnight (ate too much, and it sat heavily in my gut.) Then I woke around 2, and again a bit after 4, at which point, I couldn’t fall back to sleep. My stomach is still somewhat upset - definitely overate…

Daughter and the grands will be here around 9 or so. We’ll load the car, then hit the road. Before then, I need to pack and figure out if I can take any food with us - like a meatloaf and the half a turkey in the freezer. We’ll see…

I think my mom’s car will be fairly comfortable for the trip. At least it is for me - hard to say how it’ll feel for FCD, but he’s always in pain. Poor guy. Anyway, here’s hoping for light traffic and decent weather.

Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 76 and mostly cloudy for the day. I went to bed early last night and pulled an all nighter. However, I woke up around five-thirty and had to go pee real bad, thus I am up. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. ‘Twill be a service of Christmas Lessons and Carols, which means eight scripture readings, each followed by a Christmas Carol. EYP is off the next two Sundays as he is on vacation. This mornin’ I am the Officiant which means basically I get things started and get things ended. Readers are all lined up and hopefully even all show up. I expect sparse attendance as a fair amount of folks are travelin’ or figure they got deheathenated enough on Firday. Any need to feed will be via forage leftovers.

MOOOOOOM have a safe trip to Flahrduh. Glad FCD’s folks will get the chance to meet Tobias.

MetalMouse have a safe trip back to north Alabammy.

All others travelin’ today, be safe out there.

Boo I am so sorry this time of year is so tough for you! Hope you’re feelin’ better today.

{{{Butters}}} cause this is a tough time of year for you, as well.

Looks like overall everyone had a good day of celebration. Yay for that!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all! For those who celebrate Boxing Day, get out there and punch someone or whatever it is you do.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off again today, so cleaning and more handegg. It’s supposed to be 73 today. Actually, it’s gonna be mid 70s till Wednesday, when the 403 days of rain starts.

{{{{shades}}}}

Safe travels, Mooommm!!!!

Morning all. So far today I changed from one set of jammies into a set suitable for dog walking. I shall remain in jammies all day. Was gonna pack more boxes but it’s Sunday so a good excuse to sloth one more day. I think I’ll see if I can find the Washington football game somewhere streaming.

Safe travels FCFAMILY and all other Mumpers making their way back home.

((((shady)))

Good morning everyone!

Yesterday’s Christmas gathering was very successful and Zoe LUUUUUUURVED her new baby stroller. I got the pram type and she was loading her babies and pushing it all around the house as soon as it was unwrapped. I am so glad I took the time to put it together for her so I could see her enjoy it. She actually squealed with delight! Her brother, Adam, also thought it was the bee’s knees and would also push it all around the house anytime Zoe wasn’t near it. He’s in that stage of development where he imitates everyone. She also loved the old doll cradle I gave her, which I had loaded up with bedding and was made by my Opa for my mother when she was just a wee girl. So, it’s very old. I played with it, then my daughter played with it, and now it’s being passed down to Zoe as the oldest girl. It still has all the flowers and stuff painted on it.

At any rate, everyone loved their gifts (whew!), and the meal was a huge success. I sent my daughter and family home with leftovers and my son his packed and ready to go in the fridge when he leaves for home today.

I will say last night was probably the most tired I’ve ever been after the Christmas celebration. I’m still tired, but unable to sleep, so here I sit with my coffee.

It’s snowed here, but I think there are maybe around two or three inches here, so really not all that much. I know they got way more up north.

Well, I’m gonna get another cup of coffee. I’m going to need it today.

14º and windy. It feels like the wind is coming out of the Fraser Valley (BC). The hummingbird feeder is frozen. I’m told I can put a higher-wattage bulb in it, but I sure don’t want to melt the plastic feeder bowl. I think there’s a 7W bulb in it now, and I think the hardware store has 15W ones. I need to start the Jeep today just to make sure it will start, and drive it around. I’m sure the Prius will be immobile for the next couple of weeks. The ice-melt worked pretty well on the walk, but I can see snow on it. Have to attend to that. I have to sweep the snow off of the catio and bring in more wood from the back of the yard. I’ll have to remember to start the generator to make sure it runs.

Snow is pretty, but it’s a royal pain in the arse. As dad would say, ‘It’s a mucking fess.’

Yesterday’s visit with my dad and brother was fine, except Bro spent half of it staring at his phone and Dad spent half of it trying not to fall asleep. Heh. No West Wing: when I arrived, Dad’s TV was playing a YouTube video of a fireplace with acoustic guitar Christmas music. It was nice, but he’s 73 and his hearing has been gradually getting worse, while on the other hand I’m sensitive to background sounds and I was sitting closer to the TV, so it took a few minutes to work out a volume that was loud enough for him but not too loud for me. Happily, both 45-mile drives were pretty smooth…I would call it a Christmas miracle, but it’s beyond a miracle that there were no accidents/problems on I-495!

It was a good visit, but when I walked through my front door at around 7pm I was glad to be back home and with my doggy. And it was time to select a classic holiday movie: I had some trouble deciding between Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, and Trading Places, but ultimately I watched the latter. I plan to watch the other two today.

I recognize each of those words individually, but I don’t understand the phrase “doesn’t want potatoes”…?

(I looooooove potatoes. )

Name, please?

:crossed_fingers: !

We have approximately 3” of snow, maybe more, with another 2” to come. Today I’m supposed to see 3 friends, who I haven’t seen in 2-4 years. Not sure what’s going to happen, especially since Seattle and snow do not mix. Certainly is pretty.

Going to make two types of fudge - chocolate and peanut butter. Probably going to have to do a sugar detox when I get home to Switzerland.

Just saw on KING5, a bus stuck in the snow in Seattle.

True, but I love it anyway. I lived in Missouri and Oregon, both of which got snow, so I’m familiar with shoveling driveways and walks, and the ridiculous driving. Yay for snow!

Unknown I’m sorry to hear about your friend. I hope his head turns out to be ok. You are good folks for looking out for him.

Mooommm safe travels.

Yesterday I slow cooked prime rib, and my BiL made a turkey. Dinner was good and much food was had by all. My mom gave me a quilt that she has made for me. It has a dragon theme and I love it! On the sadder side, Pixel isn’t doing well. He’s very tottery and get anxious if he’s not with someone. Yesterday he was drinking water, and he ate small amounts a few times. Today he didn’t want water earlier. :frowning:

Tomorrow Carvana is picking up my Expedition. They’re giving me more than I paid for it, because the world is crazy. No matter, I am happy to relieve them of their money.
