It seems they’d been trying to contact me at my old address, and then turned my account over to a service that tracks people down and does whatever with their stock. They finally found me again.

Well, the stock went down. Lost about half its value, actually. Something like £249.61, if I recall correctly. After fees, VAT, and so on I got $295.81. I used it to open a new account at a local credit union, which I will use for saving up for a new camera.

Better to wake up 295 pounds richer than 295 pounds heavier.

I love film, don’t get me wrong. But the additional costs of buying film stock, processing, transfering… not to mention after you shoot you are going to have to ship the film to one of the few remaining labs to be processed and transferred before knowing what the day’s rushes contain! I think you should buy either an Arri Alexa or an Arri Alexa Mini. More cost up front but the advantages after will save you a ton. That said there is nothing quite like film. Good luck for sure with whatever you decide.
