5 women accuse Louis CK of sexual misconduct

i also thought of this episode when the story first broke. i wondered if this episode may have a loose link to louis ck.

[Quote from a Louis C.K. performance]
(Louis C.K. - Wikiquote):

If only these women had brought a helicopter with them, it would have never gone this far:

Louie got you trapped? Escape with this simple trick!

I had a thought about cover-ups and ‘don’t do that any more’ prompted by this discussion, I posted a thread here: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=20601209#post20601209

Rolls eyes, This whole thing goes back to 1 simple solution.

Women need to be more vocal about what they do or do not want.

This quote is taken out of context. he repeatedly asked her and she repeatedly agreed.

Where did you read this? There are no sources I could find that stated there was any sort of a cover up in place.

You quoted 2 posts containing links to what you’re asking. Read your own posts, for chrissakes. CK himself called these women liars not 2 months ago, now he’s admitted he was the liar. You posted the links yourself! Read them.

Well, in the article I linked he asserted that people talking about his misdeeds were lying about him and that’s enough to qualify as a cover-up for me. Scroll up this page to read the direct quotes of him lying and denying the incident, I already quoted from that one. But perhaps you want more meat, try the link Lamia posted that you quoted. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/09/arts/television/louis-ck-sexual-misconduct.html . You’re probably just going to dismiss those allegations, but I don’t. There’s also stuff like John Stewart openly mocking people for even asking about the allegations At some point, Jon Stewart will probably have to address claims he’d never heard the Louis CK allegations . (And no, I don’t believe that a professional comedian who works closely with Louis CK would be completely unaware of allegations against him that I, a person who doesn’t really follow the comedy world at all, knew about.)

Oh, and if you think I was being horribly unfair to John Stewart by claiming that his “I don’t know what you’re talking about” is unbelievable, he’s now admitted that he actually knew about the rumors for years but dismissed them and helped cover up Louis CK’s behavior. So there’s at least one prominent comedian who admits to participating in a cover-up by telling lies. Jon Stewart says ‘we all could have’ done more about rumors surrounding Louis C.K. – New York Daily News

That NYtimes post doesn’t say anything about a cover up.

Try again

There is nothing on that NYtimes article you link that says anything about Louis CK calling anyone a liar.

I don’t see how you can say Louis CK was covering it up, just because another comedian made those comments.
Don’t forget the actions that are described in the NY times page are never called unwanted by any of the women accusing him.

What he did was not sexual harassment.

I quoted the part that does. I don’t need to try again, if you’re willing to deny the words I directly quoted for your benefit then you’ll just deny anything I post.

Again, if you’re willing to engage in ‘black is white’ claims and deny what’s directly quoted, you’re clearly not going to accept anything as truth but your own preconceptions.

I didn’t say “Louis CK was covering it up just because another comedian made those comments”. I neither claimed that Louis CK was the only one involved, nor did I claim that the evidence for the cover up was solely from the John Stewart quote. Do you really think that if you split your response to me up into three posts that no one will see that I offered more evidence in the post you’re responding to?

Yes, they are explicitly called unwanted multiple times in both articles. You realize people can just follow the link or look at the quoted material and see what’s in the article, right?

Louis CK says that it was inappropriate, unwanted sexual activity and I’m perfectly willing to call that sexual harassment.

Not going to bother responding to future posts of yours unless I find it particularly amusing to throw in a quote, you’re clearly not engaging in legitimate discussion.

No, you are incorrect. Neither Louis CK nor the females involved ever said it was unwanted.

The closest thing to it was “He asked if we could go to my dressing room so he could masturbate in front of me.” Stunned and angry, Ms. Corry said she declined, and pointed out that he had a daughter and a pregnant wife. “His face got red,” she recalled, “and he told me he had issues.””

For the above instance he asked and she said no and he didn’t. there is nothing wrong with asking someone (assuming they are of legal age and mentally able to make a rational decision) to participate in an adult act.

Well you better explain that to LCK, because he himself seems to realize there is something wrong with it. As you quoted, his face got red and he said he had issues. Is that the response of someone who thinks he’s doing nothing wrong?

There are certainly situations where it’s completely inappropriate, and even Louis CK thinks this is one of those situations.

Of course, anyone would if they are rejected. Regardless the circumstances.

Wrong again. He never said that what he did was wrong. he was sorry they were put in the situation.

People assume that because people say “this situation happened” that it is bad.

I can promise you in a hotel room after hanging out chatting is as close as you can get to the perfect situation to ask.

This whole situation is quite silly. Hey basically gave the ladies a “rated MA for nudity and sexual situations warning” and then the ladies in the hotel sat and watched “until he undressed and got all the way naked” before leaving.

If anyone has seen a heavy set middle aged man get undressed, it takes some time. So if he says “can I masturbate in front of you?” and all he gets is a giggle. Then they sit there an watch till he is naked and then leave.

There is nothing more he could have done.
