Witha name like that, we’ll give youo a pass. AK counts.
I’ve got 43, plus DC & PR.
States I’ve never gotten to? ID, MT, ND, RI, VT, WV, & WY.
I know I’ve slept many times in 38 of the 43 and also in both DC & PR, and I might have slept once in one or two of these last five: AL. DE. MS, NH, SD.
Visting them all is/was not a goal as such. I just traveled a lot and have lived in a lot of places.
I’ll get those last few in when I retire if business doesn’t take me there anyway. No point in stopping at 86%.

The first time these words have ever appeared in this order in the same sentence…
I have been “outdoors” in 36 states.
These are the states that I am missing:
Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska
New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming
Of the 36 states I have been outdoors in, there 10 states that I have not slept in:
Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine,
Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, Rhode Island
I have been in the Minneapolis/St Paul airport. I didn’t count that.
I have been in (and slept in) three Canadian Provinces, Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia.
I have been to Mexico and the Cayman Islands.
Guessing, I have spent the most nights in (1) Missouri, (2) Virginia, (3) Georgia, (4) Vermont, (5) New York.
43 plus DC, Mexico, two Canadian provinces, Puerto Rico and several Caribbean islands.
Not: Alaska, Delaware, Mississippi, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington. I actually think I might have gone through Delaware but I’m not certain, and anywhere I wouldn’t count passing through without stopping the car, or just flying in and out of an airport.
I expect to visit Alaska, Oregon and Washington someday. The others I don’t really care.
I’ve been to almost all the Northeast states except for Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire (Thanks, Americorps!). Basically carve a swath down the coast from MA to TX, and I’ve driven it.
Been to California, Illinois and Colorado, but those are my only Western states. I’ve been to every Southern state except for KY, MO, and AR. Actually we lived in Little Rock when I was a baby, but I don’t count that because I don’t remember it.
I’m 25, btw.
I’ve been to every state except Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oklahoma and Nebraska. Gotten lucky in 24 states (including DC), to boot! I’m 43 now, but had most of those states covered by the time I was 30. I’ve also lived in nine states.
33 states so far, but I’m still young. I plan on hitting them all. Three cross-country trips in the past three years:
Boston — LA (2 and 1/2 weeks)
Maine — Phoenix (1 and 1/2 weeks)
Phoenix — Providence (1 and 1/2 weeks)
Another 49er, but Ms Hook and I are driving to Alaska in June so ask again then.
I’ve had sex in at least 25 of them, I’m thinking it will be 26 come July.
Oh, and I’m 62.
Been to all 50! It was very much intentional, and I made it to my 50th (Alaska) at age 29. While I’d been to some before I was married, my wife and I did all 50 - plus Washington DC and all 10 provinces of Canada - within the first 5 years of our marriage, so that’s my answer for “how long did it take us”.
And, BTW, none of them were drive-throughs or airport-onlies, either. We did at least one touristy thing in each state.
