50" Television, Great, 54" Display, Not So Much

My new Samsung plasma has a good picture BUT something’s messed up – I can tell I am missing a significant part of the image, mainly because titles and graphics bleed off the edges. For instance, if there’s a flush-left title identifying someons as Chairman, I might get -irman at best.

I flipped through the menus but all I could see was changing the aspect ratio, which didn’t solve the problem.

Any suggestions?

Zoom modes.

My TV has a number of methods to play with the getting the image to fit on the screen. A couple play with the aspect ratio, one is just a straight-up zoom. Does yours have anything like this?

Also, whatever receiver you are using (cable, sat, etc.) probably has its own settings regarding the aspect ratio it sends out to the TV. Fool around with its settings as well.

Yeah, on Time Warner remotes, the zoom is right under the 9.

You are definitely looking at a zoom setting. Your tv remote has a control which will let you cycle through each setting. On your samsung remote its the button named P.SIZE.

I’ve messed with this setting, but it only seems to change the vertical.

Like hekk and Liberal say, it could be the Cable Box also. Try pressing the # button if you have a Scientific Atlanta HD box.

Barring that, what kind of receiver and how is it connected to the TV?
