Пошли на хуй!

No need to be a yob about it.

Yeah, you could have at least translated it to “だたまぞ”.

Now I am confused.

A quick stop in ATMB shows the ban hammer has been being used freely of late, so why is this thread still here? I mean they were, at least, actual human beings.

Just when you think you understand the rules, it gets confusing.

If it’s a bot, and they know that, why has it been allowed to live on? Not that I really understand the whole bot thing, I’m just asking.

Every once in a while, the mods let a bot thread live so we can poke it with pointed sticks.
They just don’t let us use fresh fruit.

Bot’s been banned. The replies are fun, so the thread hasn’t been disappeared. Occasionally the mods will do that.

Thanks for clearing that up, for me. It all makes sense to me now!

укусить мой блестящий металлический зад.

Bite my shiny metal ass.

Ah, it’s 1920’s style death-Здравствуйте.

I banned the spammer but I thought some of the responses were funny, so I left the thread alone. There are no spammy or malicious links in the OP or the spammer’s profile, so there was no downside. Most spam is dull, but like runner pat said, we do that now and then if the spam is amusing.

You great poof!

Nah! (nearly right though) you need to put the action into the accusative case yap?

And the instruction in the imperative!!

ps ass is (translit) jhopa ( accusative Jhopu)

hehehe pedantic fun!!

better to say поцелуй мою жопy

i cant even post my edit :frowning:

I know I’m going to regret this, but sometimes I’m not properly deterred when I’m curious.

What are the grammatical differences in meaning among:

1.) Иди на хуй…

(Which got this reply from Hollis, a mod over on the Russian military photos site: “Should have just insulted the member in English, then you would have only been awarded 8 points.”)

2.) Пошли на хуй!

(Courtesy of the irrepressible Ladyfoxfyre)

3.) Hooey vai!

(Which was chalked on the wall of a trashed police station in Georgia after the Russian Army withdrew. Too much searching needed to find this in Cyrillic.)

I understand the literal meaning of each of these phrases, but what are the differences in idiomatic meaning? I’m sure this is a grammatical issue but I was never strong on grammar (which is to say I was never strong in Russian).

Is there a diplomatic poster out there who can explain this as what it is, an honest question over foreign grammatical forms, without upsetting the mods?

…speaking of which…

…this confused me no end. I was absolutely certain “hello” is spelled without a “cha” in it (which just doesn’t look right either), and when I saw others objecting I knew there had to be some mistake.

Still, mods have deus-ex-machina authority, in the mind as well as in law, and I couldn’t believe one would actually be PULLING OUR LEG. So it wasn’t a lame attempt at humor at all if you wanted some of us to be completely baffled.

Dasvidanya, OP! (Sorry, no cyrillic font)

  1. Go fuck yourself
  2. Fuck off (plural, f. would be пошла на хуй, m. пошёл на хуй)
  3. (Хуй вы) I’m guessing, probably something like “fuck you”

ETA: Хуй actually means dick, not fuck, so you are telling someone to “go on a dick” literally.

I’m astonished at your candor–but thanks, that’s exactly what I wanted to know.

Yes, I understand the “go onto the object” nature of this as the basic form of the message.

The “hooey vai” I transliterated is not “Хуй вы” but Хуй “ve-ah-hard E” I’m pretty sure. I took “vai” to mean “to you” or “for you”, and I seem to remember someone on the Russian photos website translated it that way for non-speakers as well. It’s been so long since I took Russian I have to guess at the case of personal pronouns, sorry.

Thanks again for a very clear and straighforward answer.
