59-year old great-grandmother set to deliver twins

http://www.ajc.com/news/content/living/1204/23mama.html

Not the oldest age to deliver a child, but. . .

And twins to boot!

This beats the previous (unaided) record of Ruth Kistler, who gave birth at the age of 57 (and lived to her 80s).

There was an article about her in The Albany (GA) Herald last week. In the article she said she had had a tubal ligation, or, as she put it, “had my tubes tied” after her last child was born. I know nothing is one hundred percent but this just does not sound right to me. I’ll try to find the article and post a link to it later.

Not quite.

When I’m 59 in twelve years’ time, I won’t be taking perinatal advice from my ovaries or my uterus. If any of the three try to tell me I’m going to bear twins, I shall whip out their retirement gold watches and say “GOTCHA YA!!”

Sounds like the woman has some mental health issues, not issues from the womb.

Go swampbear, Go swampbear, Go, go, go swampbear!

You nailed this one! Apparently, it’s unclear if anyone nailed Grandma, though…

They’re called “breasts,” dear.

Well, I’m sure I can understand the confusion… When you have two lumps around your midsection, what are you supposed to think?

Thank You! I woulda linked to the story this morning from the local paper except that, of course, my paper would be late today so I didn’t see the article before I left home so I didn’t know the hoax, insanity or whatever it is had been reported. Thanks Rilchiam for the link. I knew tubal ligation and pregancy did not go together.

Eve just so you know, I snorted water. My sinuses are all cleaned out now. It hurt. A lot. But thanks for the laugh and the sinus clearing.

Hey how about that . . . one of 'ems left-handed and the other one’s right.

And each has one big eye right in the center of it’s forehead.

But they’re BLIND!!

Just for the record, the crinkliest granny/mommy record is due to fall pretty soon. Link.

Is it cold out, or are you Popeye?

They have no mouth, and they must scream!

Hey, check it out. One of 'ems trying to push the other out of the nest.

The oldest women to give birth last year in Dublin was 52. It was unplanned, she’s a single mother, and the thing that most concerned her was how to tell her own mother what had happened. Some things never change.

On a side note, tubal ligations have a 1 in 300 failure rate. That is, for every 300 women with tubal ligations followed up for 1 year, 1 woman will become pregnant (mostly ectopic pregnancies, but some viable). It’s a good birth control method, but it’s not 100% perfect.

“The most trusted name in news”

Oooooookay.

Aaaaaahhhhhh!

The idea of that woman being a mother is frightening. Ok, I know she’s only a surrogate, but still–what two year old wouldn’t be frightened of hair like that?

I don’t see anything that suggests she’s a surrogate mother. Sounds like she plans on raising them as her children.
