6 inch 'alien' skeleton is human, died at age 6 to 8

Of course I’m not surprised that it’s not alien, but I’m amazed that it lived to be 6 to 8 years old. I would have expected this to be a miscarriage or something similar.

According at the list of shortest people on Wikipedia, this person would have been a clear record-breaker.

I seriously doubt that this was a 6-8 year old, since it is physically consistent with being a mummified fetus. I suspect that there’s some misreporting going on here.

Are they saying Ata girl or Ata boy?

I was under the impression age was determined by skeleton shape (more or less) against - well what is basically tons of dead people where we know how old they were.

How do they do it in a case that seems to be so different than any other? When certain areas fuse together? Seems like 6-8 is pretty specific.

Seems like a good conspiracy theory - does look alien (well what i think one would look like) - but being so small he must have escaped notice by the the new world order/illuminati. Although seems like he might be made fun of by the other aliens.

Stanford…

:dubious:

Apart from its size and strange head, it’s interesting that it has one less set of ribs than a normally developed human. Also that the researches have no idea what kind of deformity this is as it doesn’t match up to any known types of dwarfism or other known abnormalities.

If it is 6-8 years old, that raises so many questions. Like, how advanced was it cognitively when it died? Can you imagine being that tiny at 8 years old? I can’t.

Yeah I also found it unbelievable. 6-8 years? Weeks, maybe. The thing is 4 inches tall! That’s super weird to think about if there were a 4 inch tall humanoid running around for 6 years.

I’ve read several articles but none say when Ata lived. Does anybody have a source?

Can’t link right now but article I read said at least several decades.

That is whacked, how could someone be that small at 6-8 years old? I’ve held a baby that miscarried at 20 weeks and it was bigger than that.

Maybe it was an X-Man.

Maybe they grew them on the sides of cliffs like bonzai.

If a 6 inch tall human lived for 6 years anytime since the Spanish settlement of Chile, there’d be records of it.

Teeth, maybe?

Could this be the remains of a conjoined fetus that survived parasitically for 6 to 8 years? It seems more likely than it having lived independently - and if it was joined by soft tissues to its host, there might not be any obvious sign of this on the skeleton.

That’s what I was thinking too. Whatever the explanation turns out to be, it’s kind of blown my mind.

That’s a great theory. If the 6-8 years lifespan turns out to be true, this seems like a good explanation.

Yeah, I mean assuming this is genuine (which honestly, I still doubt), the thing doesn’t look at all viable - look at the rib cage capacity, for example. A rat has a bigger rib cage than that - and rats are meant to be rat-sized.

Unless this is an example of a hitherto-unknown species of human-like primate that had evolved a body size like this, it can’t have been an independently-living human for that long.

Good question. Maybe telomeres?

If it does turn out to be genuine, then
