Maybe that was the number of pounds of hair that were removed. The classiest hair stylists often charge by the pound. But the exchange rate (pounds of hair for pounds of money) is not even close to one-to-one.
In the realm of politics at least, this may tell us all we need to know about who to vote for. Hillary, as a progressive mostly-liberal Democratic candidate, wishes for the “common people” to identify with her. Getting a well-publicized $600 hair-cut probably doesn’t help with that. When the earlier Clinton got that famous LAX haircut, the event was much ridiculed, largely for the same reason I’m sure.
I would like to know how much Bernie Sanders pays for his hair care.
That’s hilarious; I really doubt that anyone is going to doubt Hillary Clinton’s commitment to the “common people” because she got an expensive haircut.
…AND people who aren’t going to vote for them anyway fall for the stories…AND post in public forums in the tradition of “concern trolling”…lather, rinse, repeat (hey, that phrase actually fits!)
Given that the article contains no facts about what the haircut cost and was put out by a hard-right propaganda source, I’m not sure what it tells us about Hillary. It does tell us that politics is a dirty sport.
It used to cost my wife over $100 for a haircut and coloring session. (It costs a bit less now that she’s just letting her hair go gray). It used to cost me around $50 when I was working and went to one of those salons where you had to have an appointment.
(Now I’m retired, refuse to go anywhere that doesn’t have a revolving barber pole out front, and just wander in and get in line. My haircut today cost me $13, and the barber seemed surprised when I added a tip.)
The haircut itself was only $40 which isn’t bad at all. The Brazilian Bikini Wax ($300) and anal bleaching ($260) are what really drove the cost up.
Sort of related - people like Linda Tripp ,etc. from the Monica mess are now coming back out of the woodwork to bash Bill Clinton and by extension Hillary. Guess that was expected.
For $600, I think you’d get:
Discretion - he’s not going to run to the press afterwards telling tales about how Clinton’s puffy eyes indicate she’s having a lot of sleepless nights, and she took a terse phone call from her husband during the session that blah blah blah. Not if he wants to be able to keep charging $600 for a haircut.
Privacy - the general public “didn’t get a glimpse”.
Reliability - this guy has a reputation for good work and flattering cuts. Hillary is scrutinized over her appearance all the time, and she doesn’t need to feed that by getting a budget haircut that goes wrong. Again, if this guy wants to be able to keep charging $600 per cut, he’s going to do a good job. His bungled styling splashed all over the front page would not go well for his business.
I see that Hillary’s net worth may be around $25 million. A $10 vs $600 line item in her budget isn’t even worth quibbling over. It’s the cost of doing business.
I can’t wait for a Trump hair story
Not gonna happen, in our universe only Democratic candidates get questionably expensive haircuts.
Okay, I agree with that, given the source.
Never mind. Wrong forum.
Goodness; I hope someone’s covering their expenses.
Well there was this:
Women are charged more; they can’t go into a salon, get a hair cut, and then say, “no, I will only pay what you charge men”.
(well, they could, but they could never go back, and a good cut can be very hard to find)
Not a Clinton story, but having watched Good Hair recently I was stunned to learn that women getting a weave can easily pay well over $1000 for the experience. That’s freaking insane.
Who cares? It’s her money. If she wants to pile it on her front lawn and set fire to it, that’s her privilege.
At her income level, and her position of being seen in public constantly as a candidate, a haircut is important. $600 doesn’t seem remotely excessive, but even if it were $6000, it’s her money.
I would prefer to debate what she proposes doing with my money. What she does with her own is her business.
Well, yeah, but some people may really want to know how a hair cut can cost $600; it would take most people all day to spend that much.
But I’ll pledge to not click on any more stories about candidates’ personal expenses - hair cuts, dry cleaning, shoes, tailoring, etc., so as not to encourage these non-stories.
I agree with the “who cares” part of this, after all it is her money, but just the other day, I was taken to lunch at a very ritzy club in my city.
I got a glance of the bill, my lamb chop (at lunch) was $97USD. While I didn’t pay and it certainly is none of my business how others spend their money, I’m still shaking my head. It was a lamb chop. ONE LAMB CHOP. It was just OK, not anything outstanding. I shudder to think of the total bill.
So I can see how high costs of “average” things can make people wonder.
