$5. One time at a garage sale. 2nd hand Wahl clipper with dull blade. Austerity!
When I go to the barber shop, I can get change back from a $20 – and that’s including the tip.
When my wife goes to the salon for a cut/color, it’s something like $225. Luckily she doesn’t get a haircut as often as I do.
It doesn’t surprise me a bit that a high-end salon would charge 3 times what my wife pays at a fairly run-of-the-mill salon…but it also wouldn’t surprise me if the services include more than just a simple haircut.
My outrage was over Bill Clinton getting a $150 dollar haircut, but looking like the guy who took the Newsweek home from Supercuts. If he stepped off that plane looking like Jon Bon Jovi, I’d applaud it.
To you, it was a lamb chop; to her it was well-cushioned, sturdy chairs; real linen and crystal, maybe even silverware; an excellent and varied wine list; and security that whatever her guest ordered - even something as easy to render inedible as a lamb chop - would be well prepared.
And Tuesday.
