7.3 Japanese Earthquake felt in Tokyo - Japan Dopers?

Text from my husband, sitting at Narita waiting on a flight:

“Whoa…that was a big big earthquake! My first one! I’m fine. Just weird.”

Apparently it’s in the same place as the last big one and there’s a tsunami warning.

Hope ya’ll are ok out there.

And now in the news - off Honshu, 1m tsunami expected. :frowning:

Looks like my sweetie is still going to get to come home in an hour though.

When I picked up my four-year old daughter told me today, “We had an earthquake! It was fun, let’s do that tomorrow.”

It was far enough out to sea that it wasn’t that strong here in Tokyo. Nothing like The Big One last year. We’ve had ones which felt much stronger, but there were less powerful, just closer.

News says there was a tsunami, but only 1m.

Glad little one enjoyed it, TokyoBayer. Kids are cute.

Was a bit nervewracking - my husband has been gone for 3 weeks to Singapore, Maylasia and Japan, and was in the airport waiting to come back here (he’s still not here yet!). I was worried he’d end up stuck there, but apparently there was a flurry of comforting announcements afterwards.
