70 Degrees and Partly Cloudy in downtown Baghdad?

Why are local television stations providing in-depth weather reports for Baghdad? I can understand talking about the sandstorms or other climatic events related to the progress of the war, but local-style weather reports seem silly. It’s not like many of us will be traveling there in the near future. Anyone else seeing this on their local broadcasts? Is there a reason for it?

I’m still trying to figure out how they can have dust storms and rain.

YES and I have been thinking the same exact thing! My theory was that maybe the news stations are trying to detract from viewers’ concerns about the lives of their loved ones who are over there by concentrating on the mundane aspects of the situation–sure, Craig and Samuel are fighting a war right now, but they’re also enjoying a beautiful spring-like day!

Either that, or maybe it’s a geography lesson in disguise.

It seriously bugs me because they have been doing the Iraq weather report in place of the local weather. Yes, yes, it’s very well that it’s a pretty day in Baghdad (aside from the bombing and whatnot)…but I would personally like to know if I need to carry my umbrella.

Otherwise…I don’t mind. I have already learned to tune it out, just like most of the other war coverage/rhetoric.

I knew it! Those educators in their dark meeting rooms are behind this war! The geography teachers have been plotting this for a long time…
