I don’t think we get Boomerang either. Bummer. Just thinking about this conjurs up images of me and my sibs, in our jammies, flickin’ Cherrios at each other.
Hmmm…I recall, vaguely, that a recent Toon used a varient on this line, with “wake up” substituting for “come home”.
Can’t recall the character’s name…YES!
She was Clover, the blonde Valley Girl from Totally Spies, who was waking a guy up from hypnosis!
Nice Easter Egg/tribute/sly insider joke.
*When you find yourself in danger,
When you’re threatened by a stranger,
When it looks like you will take a lickin’,
(puk, puk, puk, puk)
There is someone waiting,
Who will hurry up and rescue you,
just Call for Super Chicken!
(puk, ack!)
Fred, if you’re afraid you’ll have to overlook it,
Besides you knew the job was dangerous when you took it
(puk, ack!)
He will drink his super sauce
And throw the bad guys for a loss
And he will bring them in alive and kickin’
(puk, puk, puk, puk)
There is one thing you should learn
When there is no one else to turn to
Call for Super Chicken!
(puk, puk, puk, puk)
Call for Super Chicken!
(puk, ack!) *
Hey hey, if you’re going to speak french it has to be: “Savoir Faire is everywhere!” from Klondike Kat
“Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud” is actually by a two man act from England known as Flanders and Swann, which performer very popular revues from the mid 50’s to late 60’s. The “Mud” song is properly known as “The Hippopotamus Song,” and was in the revue (later released as an album) At the Drop of a Hat.
Ahhh, it’s a g-nother gnu!
Herospy.com and Wizard Magazine report that writer Brian K Vaughan (Ex Machina, Y the Last Man) and cover artist Rodolfo Migliari (City of Heroes, Freshman, Common Grounds) have collaborated on a one shot 64 page comic due out this July called Three Dog Night featuring the last adventures of Hong Kong Phooey, Underdog and Yukk the Dog. (Omigod. Remember Yukk the Dog? I remember Yukk the Dog!) It’s decribed as a cross between “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” and “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.”
Reportedly, we see Yukk’s face for the first time. He’d have to go aways to beat Sam, though.
Along those lines, my old man used to get up at six in the morning with me when I was just a little nipper to watch reruns of Bullwinkle, Rocky & Friends, back in the early 70’s. Good times!
Their humor level was sometimes staggering. An episode of Bullwinkle I viewed recently took place in Panama, and the announcer bade us: “Stay tuned for the next exciting episode, in A man, a Plan, a Canal; or, I’m dreaming of a Wide Isthmus!” Freakin’ classic.
Hey, Askia - thanks. Sounds interesting.
On another note, I was at home last night, on the couch with the dog doing our “Underdog” dance. This is where I hold his paws and sing the theme song from Underdog and make like he’s flying and stuff. He bit me. Is it ME???
whoosh.
Sorry to break it to you, but it’s a hoax. Read the bottom of that link carefully.
:: Smedley laugh. ::
Of course it’s you. You nearly gave away his secret identity.
He was gay as a daisy in May.
“Heavens to Murgatroyd!”
It’s time for a patented, Hurrican Hippo-Holler!
I remember “Heavens to Murgatroyd!” as well, but I also remember that he usually lived in a cave, but if the premise of the 'toon called for it, he could be found in a house in the suburbs (2BR ranch, when viewed from the outside, but if he had a long enough speech to say while he was carrying the little baby duck to the door, it had a living room you could land a jetliner in, or at least a single-engine Cessna)…
Oh, and the stories were crap.
That was a staple of most HB cartoons from George Jetson’s apartment to Fred Flintstone’s cave. Even in the old Tom and Jerry cartoons. I suspect most buildings in the HB universe were the gateways to stable wormholes, similar to the Bajoran Waormhole in DS9.

Not wormholes. Hammerspace.
