72 year old woman marries 26 year old man(and then it gets weird)

Hey, I have nothing against an elderly lady and a young man marrying, but this one seems different someone. Hmmm…what is it?

72 Year Old Woman Marries 26 Year Old Man

Now that I’ve made it mysterious, I’ll spell it out for you.

She’s his biological Grandmother.

Awww, look at them. They’re so in love!

I can’t imagine the shit their child will have to go through. At least the child won’t be biologically both theirs (nigh impossible anyway, what with her being 72,) but still, growing up and having your dad be the grandson of your mom? What the fuck?!

So…the child’s mom is also his/her great-grandmother, and his/her dad is also their nephew. No, not weird at all.

Edit: Now I sit and wait for all the dopers to come in here and say as long as they are in love,it sholdn’t matter what “society” thinks.

So since he’s married to his grandmother, that kinda makes him his own grandpa…

She looks pretty good for 72.

I had a great-aunt who married a teenager when she was in her 70’s. The kid stayed with her long enough to buy bicycles for all his siblings and then he left. (At least that’s the story the family told around the table at Christmas.)

No, it’s sick as hell. But I’m not convinced it’s real just yet.

He better avoid time travel.

I agree, sick as hell. Although I can’t quite articulate why it’s sick. It’s a donor egg, and they’re consenting adults. Still, sick as hell.

Urgh.

My spousal-unit is older than I am and quite a few people have thought that I am her son instead of her husband (especially early on when I had very dark hair and no wrinkles), so I can’t say my reaction is actually rational or even fair, but this just freaks me out a bit.

I guess it isn’t the age difference per se, but the incest angle that bothers me.

However, I WAS reminded of this:

That’s kind of what I thought about Harold and Maude.

So the kid’s mom will also be his/her great grandma? Great.

If it were just the age difference, it wouldn’t bother me, but grandma/grandson? Ewwwwwww.

Yeah, there’s something mentally fuckered up about those two people.

I’m reminded of an episode of Friends where Joey claims that any phrase can be made to sound sexy if said correctly. The phrase he chose? “Grandma’s apple pie” - I think the kid saw the episode one to many times?

I’m not either. The only place name mentioned is Indiana, but the surrogate mother says at one point that they’re “a brilliant couple”, which is not typical American diction. Where are these people, the US or New Zealand?

I refuse to even consider the possibility that this is not a hoax.

Well, different strokes for different folks, I guess. And speaking of strokes, as far as weirdness for the kid, this might be one of those self solving problems.

Although, like others have said, I’d be very surprised if this is even real.

Well, the author isn’t listed, but if we all chipped in we could hire the “spirit reader” featured in the next article on the same website to ask the souls in the great beyond who wrote it.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you might be right.
