78 years old today

Happy Birthday Louis! I hope you enjoy your special day.

Happy Birthday

Yeah, happy day and all. I’m 71 this year and a bit apprehensive about the 78-79 years, as a lot of people in my family have checked out around that time, including my mother, brother, sister, and first cousin. Granted, they all had long-term illnesses, but it makes me nervous nonetheless.

Happy Birthday, Louis!
Don’t grow up. It’s a trap!

Happy birthday LouisB! I’m 55, and right there with you on the “what do I want to be when I grow up” thing. It reminds me of the old Paula Poundstone joke about why adults are always asking kids what they want to be when they grow up – they’re looking for ideas!

You share the day with Nancy Pelosi, who turned 78 today.

People born on March 26 are the best people around!

(63 and celebrating in Vegas, baby!)

Happy Birthday to us!

Happy Birthday, Louis! Don’t worry about career choices until you get out of puberty.

Orville Wright might give a run for the money. He was only 32 when he and his brother flew their plane at Kittyhawk in 1903. He died in 1948 having seen his invention evolve into the Lockheed Constellation, a transcontinental four engine pressurized aircraft. Howard Hughes actually gave Orville a ride in one in 1944.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes. I’ve been repeating that same old line about growing up for approximately 20 years here on the SDMB and that counts for something—this is a great place to hang out; it beats hanging out in bars and pool halls. I did my share of that sort of thing. I’ve managed to live in eight states in the lower 48 and I’ve managed to visit quite a few more as well as a few foreign countries. I’ve learned that people are much the same no matter where one lives or visits. I had a good day today. Again, thanks to everyone.

Belated happy birthday! I hope you enjoyed your day, and still haven’t decided to grow up yet

Good. Just wanted to say, I always take special notice of your posts because I know you’re one of us Florida folks.

Just don’t turn 100. Then you can’t play with Legos no more. :frowning:

Happy birthday!
