Past “who?” presidents of the Academy include Robert Rehme (1992-1993, 1997-2001) and Richard Kahn (1988-1989).
I knew that someone was going to come along and say something like this because Brokeback Mountain didn’t win. Thank you for not letting me down.
Ahhhhhhhh! Exactly!
I’d assumed it was a whoosh. How could a bigot be happy that the prize went to a movie solely about to the harms caused by bigotry?
Their film careers were minor. They were primarily television actors, and will no doubt be remembered at the next Emmy Awards.
Why do I see that being said by this guy?
She wasn’t a Nazi. She was hired to make a film about a Nazi rally.
Because it was brilliant? I’m not sure; I just know I cannot choose the reply button in front of *me[/].
Anyway, I’m just flattered. That a comparison to Vizzini could be anything but a compliment is inconceivable.
The Scientific and Technical Awards are given out in a separate, earlier ceremony, and are not given out to individual films. Geisa and Kong won artistic awards.
Nope. Separated and in marriage counseling. Swank was still wearing her wedding ring.
I call for Unit Publicist.
Actually it was probably because they died in 2006, not 2005.
That was my first thought as well, but then I realized Chris Penn died in 2006, and he was included.
Shelley Winters died January 14, Anthony Franciosa died January 19, Chris Penn died January 24, Moira Shearer died January 31, and they were all in the tribute. The Academy usually includes anyone who died up to two weeks before the Awards ceremony. (They have to allow time to obtain rights clearances for the film clips used in the memorial montage, and then to edit the thing.)
Bet you a quarter that’s exactly how Crash won - a split vote between GNGL and BBM.
It’s a lot like the way you feel on the Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve when you’re celebrating with your family and friends and beyond that hundreds of millions of other people. I’ve never been troubled by the happiness of others.
Why would a bigot be happy with Crash winning? The film is an indictment of bigotry. Think about it. Would a bigot would be happy with any of the five nominees winning?
Then how do you explain The English Patient? If it weren’t about two men, then it wouldn’t be Brokeback Mountain. The entire point of the story is two men are in love in a time and place where they could never be happy together.
Heh. It was “I love you ________” but I couldn’t make out the rest. Anyone?
If they scheduled it to end at 11:30, it would end at 12:15.
