I was mildy upset that GNGL didn’t get more recognition. I haven’t seen BBM or Crash yet. I want to see the penguins and I liked what the French guys had to say about the kids and the Antartica treaty.
Overall, I think that Stewart’s performance was uneven. When he said,“I’m a loser”–I cringed. But then he seemed to get in stride. I loved the partisan commmercials for various nominees-do you think any of them knew that was coming?
And I loved the gay cowboy montage–so true!
Pimping at the Oscars–god, music is dead. (although, most Oscar songs stink–Elton John’s “Can you feel the love tonight?” Horrible song).
I’m curious to know what you’re referring to about “most mainstream settings”.
So am I the only one who really liked all three of the songs? Especially Hard Out Here for a Pimp?
Granted, I haven’t seen Hustle and Flow, but I’ve been wanting to for a while.
Just realized something about “Hard Out Here For a Pimp”-- it may be the only hip hop song I’ve heard that was about an actual pimp. Wow.
In mixed company. I work in a school, and when they watched the A&E biography of Shakespeare, it was mentioned that he may have had a male lover. Kids said, out loud, “Ewww! That’s GROSS!” Now, if it was revealed that Shakespeare had an African lover, would that have been OK? No. That’s what I mean. Granted, the kids who said “ewww” got a serious lecture from me, but they didn’t have any problems saying it.
Please don’t lets hijack this thread that was going so well. Start another one if you want to get in my or anyone else’s face about this.
Well, just to lighten things up a bit: Here is BBM in 30 seconds–with bunnies!
(Kinda like The Reduced Shakespeare Company)
