When it comes to vague descriptions and mystery hunts, I’ve seen miracles worked here on the Dope, so I’m turning to you all to see whether your powers of identification are as potent as in the past.
Here’s the problem: I don’t recall much of the video other than there are two people, a guy and a gal, making out under a tree. She’s in a dress, I think, he may be in tan clothing, but they’re definitely locking lips. For years I thought it was Toto’s Africa (“Whoa, I bet he’s rising like Olympus over the Serengeti!”), but a quick perusal of YouTube corrected that assumption.
It’s not Duran Duran’s Hungry Like A Wolf (nor is it Rio–just to get that out of the way), and well… that pretty much sums up the videos I know where a couple are going at each other under a tree.
Unfortunately, not it, Wargamer–thanks, though. If I recall correctly–and I know my memory’s pretty fallible after all these years–it’s a clear, full frame shot of the two, so Jack and Diane wouldn’t fit.
I thought I stumbled on it with Against All Odds because Jeff Bridges and Rachel Ward are getting hot and heavy outside in a foreign locale (which seems to ring a memory bell, although I can’t swear to it). But, that didn’t work out, either.
On the other hand, I’m having a hoot looking through all of these old videos.
Wicked Game by Chris Isaak they are under a palm tree. That might be the 90s though. I can’t find a copy on youtube where WMG hasn’t yanked the audio off of it as unauthorized :rolleyes:
Under the tree - are the standing or sitting or lying down?
Daytime or nighttime?
Do you recall if it’s a slow song or a fast song?
Any other atmospheric impressions?
I remember the making out on the beach thing in* Wicked Game*. Don’t remember a palm tree, but I’m not the biggest fan either, so that could be there for all I know.
Good video, and it definitely had my hormones a-pumpin’ back in the day, but yeah, it’s much later than the one I’m thinking of.
I’m thinking they were on the ground, it was daytime, and I really don’t recall whether it was fast or slow. Might be something in between; Africa, for example, is something I’d say falls comfortably between fast and slow.
Also, atmosphere-wise: other than it seeming like a foreign land, just outside under a tree. Possibly in a glade, but I’m probably making that part up.
I’m pretty sure it’s not a beach; more of a grassy area under a tree. Thanks to the Against All Odds video, I keep thinking the guy had a beard. So, I started looking for male artists with beards and had to stop when I realized I didn’t want to see Michael McDonald making out with anyone.
And, Belinda Carlisle? Good stuff, Maynard. I’ve always secretly loved her a little after seeing Heaven Is A Place On Earth.
