86 year-old makes "rage" comic

Don’t know how familiar you are with Tumblr or memes or assorted internet phenomena but this guy managed to take the ball and run with it. Astounding and very moving.

I wasn’t astounded but I was moved. I’ll probably post it on FB if I remember.

I liked it.

nice, do you think it was actualy made by a 86 year?
not a snark, just wondering

I’m also wondering that, is it attributed anywhere?

I am paranoid. I need to know for certain that this is what it purports to be before I share it.

It seems to come from a reddit post by “1925gamer.” It is 1925gamer’s first and only post to reddit.

Really moving.

TL;DR. Rage comics are supposed to be pithy!

I like it- it reminds me of a lot of the autobio alternative comics of the Weirdo era.

It could be genuine, but it does read a little glurgy to me.

Since we have another thread on the subject of alternative authorship I’ll channel that, and observe the author made a fatal mistake. No-one likes Nintendo and Sega. When two tribes go to war…

God, I hope I stay with the times like the creator of that comic.

I saw it on Reddit when it was originally posted, and at the time there was zero verification of authorship. I highly doubt it’s real, and I’m surprised Reddit would fall for it hook, line, and sinker after all the times they’ve been duped. Remember “PAW PAW?!”

While suspicious of the authorship, I have to admit that I can’t see the motive for creating it if it’s not real. It’s sufficiently bland and pointless that I can’t think of any reason to create it other than if you’re an old guy showing off your meme-knowledge.

For the same reason that there’s already been fake grandpa stories on Reddit*: they want attention, and glurge from old people learning to use technology is a major attention grabber and karma gold mine.

*The Paw Paw/Grandpa Wiggly fiasco and the old war vet AMA come to mind.

Skeptics.

What possible motive could there be for posting that as an untrue story? There really isn’t one.

Because perhaps it’s exactly that, a story? People can tell stories from the perspective of a person they are not.

I will note that whoever wrote it got Vietnam and Korea mixed up. Though that could be a brainfart by an old fart just as easily as by a young one.

Well it was rambling and schmaltzy, so my guess is yes.

Where?
