Those Aussies who read the Daily Telgraph will have already seen the Agricon map showing that 87% of NSW is now drought declared - along with 40% of Queensland and 40% of Victoria.
We’re only a third of the way through Spring right now, and I can’t even conceive of how much worse the drought situation is going to get during summer. We’re facing the worse drought conditions since 1902.
No amount of rain is going to help our farmers now, but if we are to avoid bushfires even worse than those we faced last summer, then we need every single drop of rain the sky can squeeze out at this point.
And we need Elvis back - NOW!
I can’t find the Agrecon map online, but the Bureau of Meteorology’s Drought Statement and the NSW Department of Agriculture’s drought conditions maps show just how much the situation has deteriorated over the last few months.
It’s going to be a long, hot summer guys.
