a 3D, HD, LCD, TV

We’ve got our HiDef. Why not HD 3D television?

I want to be able to put a TV in my room that can receive 3D content from my service provider, and play DVDs that project a 3D picture.

My proposal:

Using the polarization technique of current IMAX-3D theaters, create an LCD screen, that’s 1080i. The interlacing is used to cast the two separate visuals you need to create stereoscopic vision. And at 60 fields a second, I’m thinking it might work… There might be some striation, but it’d probably be pretty minor.

Why not polarize the upper field one way and the lower field the other way? Now everybody in the room can enjoy 3D programming, and very little new technology has to be developed.
 <— I’m viewing this thread in 3D.

I believe something using lenticular technology is in development. However it does need 3D capable broadcasting.

So why dont you be the first to make one? Make yourself some millions.

[Writing note to myself]
…polarize the upper field one way and the lower field the other way…

Uh… I’ll see you guys later.

(Runs off to the patent office)

HA… anyone want to develop this, be my guest. I’d rather reap the benefits of the technology than put any time into something like that.

Well, this is already out there for sale:
